Sega has announced a brand new physical edition of Virtua Fighter 2 is coming to Xbox consoles via Limited Run Games. This physical edition of Virtua Fighter 2 was announced to mark the 30th anniversary of the entire franchise, which Sega put a lot of love into.

First released for arcades in 1994, Virtua Fighter 2 is one of Sega's most influential games, receiving critical acclaim for its outstanding gameplay and groundbreaking graphics. The arcade version was so successful that it was ported to the Sega Saturn a year later, releasing digitally on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 in 2012. A new version of the Xbox version is being released physically courtesy of Limited Run Games.

The Game Awards 2024 unveils the latest game from Yu Suzuki, creator of the historic Sega franchises Shenmue and Virtual Fighter.

The physical version of Limited Run Virtua Fighter 2 is available to pre-order from December 12th to January 12th, complete with an exclusive box inspired by the Sega Saturn's jewel case. The Standard Edition costs $34.99, with the game running on both Xbox One and Xbox Series X/S. Limited Run also offers a Classic Edition of Virtua Fighter 2 The price is $64.99 and includes not only a classic box but also a retro-style longbox. A commemorative coin and a set of art cards based on Virtua Fighter 2will also be included in the Classic Edition. The Standard Edition is expected to ship in May 2025, while the Classic Edition will be released in June 2025.

Limited Run also offers physical editions for Virtua Fighter 5: Ultimate Showdown for PS4, pre-orders also available from December 12th to January 12th, complete with reversible cover for the standard edition. A Classic Edition is also available for pre-order, which includes an alternative storage box along with the soundtrack. The Collector's Edition offered by Limited Run includes an art book, a commemorative coin, a certificate of authenticity and a statue based on Akira Yuki. The Standard Edition is expected to ship in May 2025; the Classic Edition will ship around June 2025; and the Collector's Edition will be released in October 2025.
