LONDON: At a London sports field, Maya Hassan watches proudly as around 30 women – almost all Muslim and ethnic minorities – take part in a self-defence course she organised in response to a wave of riots that have seen violent, racist attacks on Muslims and migrant women. The 28-year-old martial arts expert said she wanted to help women of colour learn how to deal with abuse and build connections and trust after more than a week of rioting against mosques, asylum seekers' centres and the police.
