Given that players can defeat Gilgamesh multiple times when he encounters the heroes, it can be argued that this character is quite weak compared to his other incarnations. However, there is no denying that Gilgamesh is one of the best antagonists ever Final Fantasy story that manages to be intimidating despite coming across as a jerk at times.
Players will love facing him multiple times throughout the series, including the memorable Battle of the Great Bridge, which is accompanied by some of the best music by the brilliant Nobuo Uematsu. His hilarious Excalipoor has become a running gag in the series, and fans can't help but feel for him when he is banished to the Interdimensional Rift due to his numerous failures. In the final dungeon, he comes back to aid the player by saying some heartfelt final words before sacrificing himself and helping the party make their way to Exdeath and defeat him once and for all.
4 Gilgamesh, The Elite Mark
Wields numerous iconic swords from past games
- Released
- October 31, 2006
Final Fantasy 12 is known for its many impressive hunts that players can take part in, with the party unlocking Elite Mark Hunts after earning a point. One of these battles takes place against none other than Gilgamesh himself, who appears with Enkidu to duel the heroes. One interesting thing about this character is that he wields the swords of the past Final Fantasy Heroes along with an iconic blade of Dragon Quest This is also a fun reference that is sure to entertain long-time fans of the series.
As you would expect, this encounter has an air of subtle hilarity that makes the battle against this elite character more memorable. Every iconic blade Gilgamesh wields is a fake, which is an interesting detail if players bother to look at his weapons carefully. The party fights this character twice and, despite his strength in battle, is able to defeat him with a little work. The false blades he carries do not particularly aid his power, making this encounter surmountable in the eyes of many.
3 Gilgamesh, the Blademaster
A serious version of this recurring character

Unlike Gilgamesh's previous appearances in the series, Follow Gladiolus offers a serious take on this character that lacks much of his patented humor. This may be disappointing, but players won't mind as long as they take on the Blademaster in an epic encounter where they make the most of Gladiolus' hard-hitting attacks to deal serious damage.

Grinding is a common part of the JRPG formula, and by extension Final Fantasy games, but these great level-up systems keep things exciting.
Since Gilgamesh lost an arm in the fight against Cor, it can be argued that Gladion had an easier time with this boss due to this disability. Nevertheless, the Blademaster shows his best in battle, inflicting immense damage with four blades. The strongest of all is the iconic Genji Blade, which can be obtained as a reward for defeating this challenging boss and one of the strongest versions of Gilgamesh in the series.

A challenging boss fight worth beating to get a useful piece of Magicite

The encounter against Gilgamesh Final Fantasy 6 makes for an entertaining boss fight, with this fight in the Colosseum being the only one where the entire party is involved in the fight. It's not an easy fight in the slightest, but players who bring their strongest group into the fight and approach this fight tactically can defeat one of the toughest enemies in the series.
The party is rewarded for their efforts with Gilgamesh magic, allowing players to summon this creature in battle to trigger one of four possible effects based on the sword he chooses to attack the player's enemies. Zantetsuken deals immense holy damage, Masamune deals armor-ignoring non-elemental damage, Excalipoor deals a paltry 1 damage, and Enkidu comes into play with all three swords glowing to decimate enemies with his strongest attack.

Seifer is one of the most famous rivals in the world Final Fantasy Story. Seeing him face off against Squall throughout the series is something fans can't get enough of, with the final encounter being a cinematic one when players have Odin as a girlfriend. The incantation appears to kill Seifer, but is split in two by the Hyperion wielder. Seifer becomes cocky after this victory, not noticing that the girlfriend's Zantetsuken landed at Gilgamesh's feet.
This legendary character appears in the middle of battle to unsettle Seifer before taking him out with a single blow and showing the wealth of his power. This version of Gilgamesh is extremely powerful and is never defeated in the game. He replaces Odin as the Joker, who can appear at any time during a battle and unleash one of four attacks depending on the blade he chooses. The effects of Zantetsuken and Excalipoor are well documented, while Excalibur and Masamune deal major damage to all enemies.
