However, Gojo's time has officially come to an end after he fought a heroic battle against Sukuna and lost his life. Now a power vacuum has arisen JJK world, and someone else has to step up. Luckily, the author has persuaded a few characters to take over his role in the future, and it remains to be seen who will properly take on this responsibility.

Gojo's death in JJK was shocking for all fans

  • Gojo and Sukuna eventually collided in the Shinjuku Showdown arc
  • Gojo met his end in this battle

Gojo finally died fighting Sukuna after a tense fight. As fans know, Gojo was sealed in the Prison Empire during the Shibuya Incident arc of the series. From then on, the cast came to free Gojo and in the Culling Game Arc, this finally happened. Thanks to the incredible effort of the wizards, Gojo was freed in the end and returned in style. Immediately upon his return, a battle with Sukuna ensued, and by this point Sukuna had taken control of Megumi's body. Gojo vs. Sukuna took place a month later and this fight was truly the highlight of the entire series. While these wizards were equally crushed, Gojo was far more impressive in battle, and that's due to the fact that he actually fought not only Sukuna's Shrine, but also Megumi's 10 Shadows. In fact, both techniques are strong enough to rival Gojo and his Limitless individually, as he has confirmed.

Farewell, Gojo Satoru! I will never forget you as long as you live. –Sukuna

When Sukuna combined the incredible power of his shrine with the 10 Shadow Technique, Gojo was naturally pushed into the background. But despite that, Gojo actually did incredibly well in this fight, pinning Sukuna against the wall and coming incredibly close to actually killing him. In fact, the only reason Sukuna didn't die fighting Gojo after the powerful distant Hollow Purple was because the author wanted him to stay alive and continue fighting other wizards.

Gojo 0

Gojo was a plot device in the Shinjuku Showdown arc and he could never have defeated Sukuna, otherwise the story would have meant absolutely nothing to people like Yuji Itadori. Yuji is the protagonist and he had to defeat the King of Curses alone. This is exactly why Gojo died and Sukuna emerged victorious. In JJK Chapter 236, Sukuna used the World Splitting Dismantle and chopped Gojo in half, effectively ending his life.

Why only a few people can become the next Gojo

Yuji, Yuta and others have the potential to become the next Gojo

With the death of Gojo, a power vacuum emerged in the world JJK. After all, Gojo was the strongest modern wizard that the rest of the JJK wizards combined couldn't keep up with. Of course, Gojo's death left a huge void for the wizards to fill, and even now there's no clear answer as to who the next Gojo is. The answer to the question is quite complicated. The fact is that there is currently no character as strong as Gojo who can effectively occupy this position. But there are certainly people with a lot of potential who can take on this role in the future of the series. In fact, there are actually some who can keep doing this.

Seek a different kind of strength than mine. – Gojo

The first character that fans know can fulfill this responsibility by becoming the strongest is none other than Yuta Okkotsu. Yuta took over Gojo's body back during the Shinjuku Showdown arc, and it was definitely a spectacle for fans. Even though it didn't end up adding much to the plot and didn't do anything that the author couldn't have done differently, it was still exciting for fans to see. Yuta has tremendous powers and his connection to Gojo, as well as the fact that they shared the same ancestors, certainly adds a level of realism to the idea that he can become the next Gojo. Yuta understands the burden Gojo bore better than anyone and is willing to similarly sacrifice himself so that he too can become the strongest. He has the tools to do so and just needs to refine his techniques in the future to claim this position.

Gege reveals who is at the top of physical strength at JJK. Here's who that is.

Likewise, Yuji has the potential to become the next Gojo. Fans of Yuji don't have enough potential to compete with the likes of Sukuna. But Yuji is still an unfinished product. He still needs to strengthen himself considerably if he ever wants to keep up with the strongest modern wizard in combat, and that's the truth. Although Yuji defeated Sukuna in the Shinjuku Showdown arc, he was not strong enough to do it alone and even his control over his techniques was rather weak. Yuji must drastically improve his cursed techniques like Shrine while gaining a better understanding of powers like Blood Manipulation. He needs to improve his use of the Reverse Cursed technique and learn more barrier techniques and anti-domain techniques such as domain enhancement as well as other forms of this power.

Above all, Yuji must incredibly expand his arsenal and, above all, increase his efficiency in all of these arts. Yuji has the potential to take on Sukuna one day, but he certainly needs a lot more time to actually do that.

Another person who Gege openly claims is a talent on par with Gojo is none other than Hiromi Higuruma. He is a newly awakened wizard who has reached unprecedented heights in the Shinjuku Showdown arc. Higuruma is a true genius and has often been compared to Gojo. In fact, even Sukuna paid him respect before knocking him down and that just shows what level he really was. In two months, Higuruma has achieved what wizards have failed to achieve in their entire lives, and that is the truth. Recently, Gege commented that he wanted Higuruma to be seen by people as a true genius, and he certainly exuded that feeling as he learned techniques such as Domain Reinforcement, Reverse Cursed Technique, Domain Expansion, and many other advanced skills , such as walking in the air within 2 months. Higuruma is still alive and strives to become stronger than ever and could potentially become the next Gojo.

Obviously, there are many candidates for the position of next strongest candidate in JJK, and Yuta seems to be the most likely answer at the moment, as he is much more experienced and stronger than the others. But potentially the likes of Higuruma and Yuji could eventually overshadow him.

The final chapter of Jujutsu Kaisen, JJK 271, was finally released on September 29, 2024. Fans can read the series on the Manga Plus and Shonen Jump apps.
