The Lord of the Rings gets its first squishmallows

Squishmallows are big business, with many series and studios partnering with Jazwares to turn famous fictional characters into squishy, still relatively new plushies. You might think that there are limits to who and what works as Squishmallow, but Jazwares has proven once again that it can make almost anything work, this time through These are the first “Lord of the Rings” squishmallows.

Jazwares announced the big reveal of its first Lord Of The Ring squishmallows via the line's Instagram account over the weekend. It will be the first three characters from the iconic books and films to get their own Squishmallows Frodo, Gandalf and Gollum. Not the three Middle-earth characters I would have imagined as Squishmallows, but then again, I'm not sure there's anything native to Middle-earth that would make a natural Squishmallow.

Six new Sonic Squishmallows have been introduced and one of them is already available in stores.

Jazwares has actually done it again, as even the spooky Gollum looks soft, sweet and adorable. A quick look at the plushies confirmed that they are all traditional squishmallow dishes that are large, round and soft. In addition to the basic designs, all three have additional details that make them unique. Gollum has ears, Frodo's Squishmallow wears a cape and Gandalf the Gray has a plush hat on.

Jazwares is kicking off 2025 early with a big reveal

So far it's all good news for fans of The Lord of the Rings. The only downside is the lack of detail provided at this early stage. Everything you can see in the graphic above is everything that has been revealed so far. Squishmallow's sizes, pricing and release dates have not been announced. The post simply notes that the plush trio is “arriving soon.”

It may seem strange to reveal these a few days before Christmas. If they had been revealed and released a few months ago, you could have bought them as gifts for the holidays. However, similar to Funko Pops and other collectibles, the Squishmallows wheel never stops spinning. There will be new plush designs to come as 2025 begins, and it appears that these three will be among the first to be available for purchase sometime in the first few months of the new year.

There was a way to not only get these three new Squishmallows before anyone else, but for free too. Jazwares held a raffle following the reveal, but has stopped accepting prizes since then. So if you missed it, you missed it.
