Kim Hansul dies an unexpected death, and her spirit is taken to the world of Drayfox with all her memories intact. Although she is initially upset with her new life, she decides to live with her new identity when she learns of the great power within her. As Finea Macaira, she does her best to control her powers and protect her family.

Heroine of Drayfox is a pretty standard isekai that uses many common elements in the genre (reborn into a noble family, granted special powers, etc.). However, it does stand out because of its early character development. Most isekai gloss over the protagonist’s past life, but Kim Hansul struggles to let go of her past, which makes her much more interesting compared to characters who move on right away. She’s immediately much more complex and relatable as a result.

An Amazing Power-Up Manhwa

Being isekai’d into novels and webcomics is a fairly common occurrence. In Player, Heo Seol-jin leaves a small hate comment on a comic he’s reading, and before he can react, a god named Arthur transports him into the story to be the main character himself. Seol-jin becomes a player. His goal: to reach the top of the Heavenly Arena and compete to be the strongest. With no training or experience, he must rely on his mandated partner, Excalibur, to survive.

As far as isekai go, Player is a fun story with a unique setting. It has some fantastic action scenes, and the art is extremely well done. However, the best part of this manhwa is the characters. Seol-jin is the perfect example of an underdog, going from a meek student to a courageous fighter, and his growth alongside Excalibur is amazing to see throughout the story.

Latna Saga: Survival Of A Sword King

A Fantastic Adventure With Incredible Characters

In isekai, the other world is one of the most important elements in the story, which means the world-building needs to be incredible, and that’s where Latna Saga shines. The story follows Ryu Han-bin as he is suddenly taken from Earth. Like in other manhwa, he’s forced to go through a tutorial, but instead of moving to the next stage, his guideline glitches. He’s stuck there for many years until he’s finally transported to the world of Latna, where he must learn to survive.

Although it starts just like many other isekai, this story quickly evolves into an epic adventure full of twists and turns. The stakes are constantly rising as Han-bin and his friends travel across the world and learn more about it. Each story arc is impactful and entertaining, so it’s easy to get through despite its length. Very few manhwa tell epic stories like Latna Saga.

Hahm Dani wakes up on the first day of school with no idea what’s going on. Her uniform is wrong, the name of her school is different, and a random girl claims she’s her best friend. Soon enough, Dani realizes she’s been placed into some kind of web novel, and she’s the best friend of the protagonist.

Reverse harem isekai are usually filled with drama and angst, so it’s nice to see one that’s generally peaceful. My Life As An Internet Novel mostly focuses on comedic moments between characters, and most of the conflict is Dani’s internal struggle of living in a novel. It’s more interesting than at first glance and features some great, believable characters.

Tower stories usually involve climbing floors and conquering dungeons, but that’s not quite the case in Dungeon Reset. After being abducted by a strange, talking rabbit, Jeong Da-woon and his friends must work together to complete the level. Unfortunately, while running from monsters, Da-woon falls into a trap and is left behind, but he survives even after the dungeon resets. With nothing but his crafting skills, he decides to take advantage of this glitch in the system.

This manhwa is a great subversion of a classic overpowered protagonist. Instead of fighting skills, Da-woon can dominate the game using the variety of utility skills he gained through experimenting. By using them creatively, he can create homes, a steady food supply, and even weapons for his teammates. That being said, the plot does get repetitive, which can happen when only one character has all the answers.

One Of The Original Father-Daughter Manhwa Stories

In today’s manhwa environment, many stories like this involve a father-daughter pair and their budding relationship, and many of those are popular. Who Made Me A Princess is one of the most iconic manhwa ever written because of how well it portrays this theme. Daughter Of The Emperor is the precursor to all those stories, and while it isn’t the best by any means, its traces can be seen in many comics being published today.

A Great Combination Of Fantasy And Martial Arts

Isekai usually involves going from Earth to a fantasy world, but sometimes it can be from one fantasy world to another. In Mookhyang: Dark Lady, the martial master Mookhyang is sent from a Murim world to one full of traditional fantasy elements. Due to his training, he has incredible control over mana, which attracts enemies from all around, and soon, he’s cursed, switching his body with that of a young girl’s. Now he needs to get his body back and find a way home.

Despite the gender swap aspect, this manhwa is actually pretty dark and doesn’t shy away from killing off characters. Mookhyang is a powerful main character who far exceeds the people he encounters, but that isn’t the main focus of the story. Instead, he must navigate the complex political landscape in the fantasy world and deal with the problems that arise due to his current body. It’s incredibly well-written and entertaining.

Chul-Ho Kang is a young man desperate for money, so when he sees an offer online to get rich quickly, he signs up without thinking. As a result, he’s transported to a different world. His job is to assume the client’s identity and help them realize their dreams. By doing this, Chul-ho is able to make a lot of money and visit different worlds in the process.

This story is unlike any other isekai manhwa. Not only does it stay entertaining by providing a variety of situations and conflicts, but it also features a relatively normal protagonist. Chul-ho has no special powers or qualities, and he gets by with his wits and will. It’s gratifying to see him grow with each job he takes on and exciting to see where he’ll go next. While the story does drag at some points, it’s still a solid manhwa overall.

Her goal is to use her position to create a more feminist society; however, she first needs to adapt to her new family.

Despite its history, They Say I Was Born A King’s Daughter is a pretty controversial manhwa due to its content and characters. This story makes use of very traditional isekai elements, many of which are still used today, but due to the framing and environment, they appear very harmful. Society has raised its standards, and stories like this don’t offer much to an audience that knows their self-worth. While it’s memorable for being a pioneer in the genre, this manhwa has not aged well.

It’s very rare for someone to return home after being isekai’d, let alone travel between worlds. In Devil Sword King, Jung Jin-wook is accidentally transported to another world after touching his mirror. In this world, he spends a year training under a master swordsman before returning home. With two lives to live, he goes between worlds and uses his martial arts to solve problems on both sides.

What starts off as a generic isekai quickly turns into an epic tale full of action and adventure. Jin-wook is put into a pretty unique situation, and very few manhwa do anything similar to this effect. It is a bit of a slow burn, with the first twenty chapters being especially plodding and difficult to get through. However, it’s a story that continues to build up and becomes more incredible the longer it goes on.
