The Resident Evil remakewhich was released back in 2001, is often cited as a blueprint for all subsequent horror remakes. Capcom managed to maintain the eerie and unsettling atmosphere of the original game while also adding a few additional rooms and areas to the Spencer Mansion to surprise veterans of the series, making the game a lot longer.

Another new addition that will undoubtedly add an extra hour or two to the playthrough is the Crimson Heads. Terrifying zombies that respawn and hunt the player if they don't burn their bodies in time. Trying to find your way around the mansion is a much more difficult task as these guys run around forcing players to be extra careful in their strategy when reaching the next area.

Dead Space remake also has a unique system that works in the background called Intensity Director. This essentially acts as a difficulty modifier, detecting whether the player is having a hard time or not. If this isn't the case, the game makes Necromorphs spawn much more frequently. This automatically makes the game a lot longer than the original, since in the remake there is never a guarantee that you can reliably traverse areas without falling into an ambush.

Bloober Team has managed to exceed all expectations with its all-new remake of the classic survival horror game. Silent Hill 2. The original game was already known for being quite a tedious experience mainly due to the tricky puzzles, and the same can be said for the remake as well. In areas like the apartment complex and Brookhaven Hospital, James will go back more than a few times to look for keys and items he needs to progress.

This actually led to some people criticizing the latter parts of the game as being a bit too long, although thankfully there are still plenty of surprises and a compelling story to keep players hooked from start to finish. Silent Hill 2 Remakejust like its inspiration, contains a few unlockable endings, so while an average playthrough can take just over 15 hours, it can take much longer to see everything the game has to offer.

It's a space station full of hidden rooms and secret weapons that encourages players to pay close attention to their surroundings and take it slow rather than running and shooting through each floor.
