The Last of Us has redefined the dystopian genre with its own version of zombie-like humans, collectively known as the Infected, who have transformed into bloodthirsty cannibals and monsters due to the Cordyceps brain infection. Cordyceps is a parasitic fungus that originates from contaminated crops and caused the downfall of humanity The Last of Us.
