The Best Transmog Sets for Warriors

Key Takeaways

  • Transmog in World of Warcraft allows for unique armor customization without sacrificing performance.
  • Warrior class gets various options to enhance appearance, from sleek to tyrannical looks.
  • Must-have sets like Truesteel Battleplate and Destroyer Armor add flair to Warrior attire.

Thanks to Transmogrification and World of Warcraft players can now transfer the stats of powerful gear to better-looking but weaker counterparts, allowing players to wear their favorite armor sets without compromising their character’s overall performance. Since the feature’s introduction in Cataclysm, Classes such as the Warrior have received multiple Transmog options in the acclaimed MMO’s other expansions.

However, while the Warrior has access to a lot of gear that could make them look like hulking behemoths, specific Transmog options in World of Warcraft stand out when creating the image of the perfect combatant. Which of the Warrior’s Transmog sets are must-haves for Class fans?

Updated September 23, 2024, by Rhenn Taguiam: The War Within of the Worldsoul Saga trilogy tasks Anduin Wrynn, Alleria Windrunner, and Thrall into investigating the threat of the Void entity Xal’atath. With it, fans of World of Warcraft finally have an opportunity to explore the lore of Azeroth from a more cosmological perspective. As the MMO seems to be gearing up for grander events past the visit to the Shadowlands and return of the Dragonflights, fans who want to play as Warriors might find their mighty characters seemingly mundane in the face of these events. Thankfully, the right Transmogrification sets can make their Warriors look like the valiant saviors and vicious destroyers players may want them to look like. Some must-have Transmog sets include an upgraded version of the classic knight, a sleek black armor, dragon-themed gear, and an icy bodysuit.

A Warrior on the frontlines should be able to instill hope among their comrades, and this is where the Redemption Armor comes in. Players who want to make their Warriors seem like traditional knights instead of mercenaries can appreciate the steel coloration of this World of Warcraft armor. However, the intricate details of this piece set the players apart from their regular comrades from Stormwind.

The armor itself features a wrap-around undersuit with muscle toning, giving the impression of micro-plates made to fit the player’s figure. The leg guards and gauntlets are more significant than the rest of the piece, as expected in Warcraft design tradition. Setting this armor apart are its pauldrons and headpiece, which seem to have plate-like protrusions that give the impression of wings. In turn, a Warrior can wear this armor to give the ambiance of a formally-trained knight — knowledgeable enough in martial affairs to be skilled in combat, but not too holy to be a Paladin.

Among the factions within the Shadowlands, the Venthyr Covenant and their vampiric dominion over atonement makes them an ideal group to get acquainted with as a Warrior in World of Warcraft. This familiarity can be especially useful when players get the Ebony – Venthyr Covenant Campaign Plate Armor Set, a black plate armor of a particular sleek quality that gives Warriors a more soldierly flair than other Classes. When viewed from afar, this pattern reveals a bat-inspired motif throughout the piece.

What gives the Ebony armor set its Shadowlands flair are extra details that accompany the armor. The most prominent additions are the subtle feather undercoating of its grill-esque pauldrons. On the pauldrons themselves are sitting gargoyles, giving the armor a unique flair. The helm has face plates that “extend” to the sides with wings, finishing its bat theme.

The Naxxramas Icebane Plate for Warriors of World of Warcraft takes its design motif from Northrend’s Naxxramas dungeon, which in itself reflects Wrath of the Lich King’s legacy. Compared to other Plate Armor, the Naxxramas Icebane Plate lacks a particular heftiness in its design, making it among the more form-fitting armors for Warriors.

In line with its ice theme, the Icebane Plate begins with a frosted undersuit with icy veins that denote muscle toning. Any semblance of actual armor is reserved for leggings and gauntlets, and sizable pauldrons shaped like spiked glaciers. The headpiece can be a choice of coif or helmet, both of which share a ribcage-esque motif. Warriors who wear this can seem to be made of ice itself.

True to its name, the Wyrmforged Battlegear for the Warrior is a testament to the existence of Dragonflights in Azeroth. The Class is adorned with dragon-themed gear, outfitting them as dragon-riders ready to come to the world’s defense. The armor’s strong blue color is a vibrant shake-up compared to the more medieval-esque coloration of other armor sets. Design-wise, the Wyrmforged Battlegear carries a Warrior-worthy aesthetic geared towards battle-ready simplicity.

Immediately noticeable is the inclusion of dragon-scale waist guards. There’s also the lack of a long-sleeved undergarment, instead showing the bare lower bicep, elbow, and fingers. The leggings seem to be cloth with wrap-around shin guards, with plate bracers covering another set of arm wrappings. The main chest piece seems to have overlapping plates, with intricate shoulder guards and dragon horns that glow molten-red. The helm resembles a dragon’s maw.

15 Truesteel Battleplate (Recolor)

Give The Warrior A Sci-Fi Look

The Truesteel Battleplate (Recolor) proves that players don’t need to complicate their armor to make their Warriors of World of Warcraft look interesting. Despite being lower-tier Level 42 armor, wearing the base three components of this armor will give players quite a sleek under-armor appearance. Save for black underpants, the rest of the gear implies a smooth transition from breastplate to arm pads to greaves. The armor set’s defining feature is its great helm, particularly the set of glowing eyes.

When looked from the perspective of a three-piece armor, the Truesteel Battleplate can give Warriors the feeling of being sleek Warframe suits. Should players complete its Garrison wear, they get more ornamental armor with glowing crystals on the kneepads, pauldrons, and waist guard – giving Warriors a more traditional but elegant look.

Originally the Temple of Elune in the lore, the Tomb of Sargeras became the prison of the Avatar of Sargeras and has become a point of interest throughout the Legion expansion. Players who eventually clear this raid may be able to showcase having survived coming face to face with one of Azeroth’s mortal threats, especially should their Warriors wear the Titanic Onslaught Armor (Mythic Recolor).

This unique variant of the armor of the same name retains its ventilated structure, particularly holes across its traditional plate and drill-like spikes that give it an industrial look. The holed helmet is a unique sight among Warriors, giving players an air of creativity with their armor of choice. Perhaps what ultimately sets the armor apart from other traditional Warrior gear would be its molding green-gold coloration and sickly green energies emanating from the armor’s openings.

13 Destroyer Armor

A Traditional Tyrannical Look To The Warrior

The Destroyer Armor that Warriors in the MMO can acquire as a Tier 5 Raid Set in their World of Warcraft experience can develop quite a unique aesthetic for them. Despite its nature as a full plate, it lacks the characteristic bulkiness of traditional Warrior armor from Warcraft. Instead, Warriors get inline scale mail topped with flame-esque shin plates and gauntlets. The breastplate is made flatter with the wing-like pauldrons and the small skull buckle on the rather large waistguard.

Perhaps the most unique part of the Destroyer Armor’s overall aesthetic is the horned helmet, particularly the large unsettling eyes that glare a harsh yellow much like the top of its shoulder plates. This gives the Destroyer Armor quite a tyrannical look, establishing the Warrior as a fiercer counterpart to the Paladin.

While all of its components can be found as loot in Krokuun and the Antoran Wastes, the World-Defiler’s Plate is not a true set with its lack of bonuses but rather a collectable set in terms of appearance. Its nature as armor found in the Burning Legion’s domain means its overall aesthetic resembles gear worn by demons that players slay.

This is true to its dull grey appearance with sickly green tones, giving Warriors a definitively “evil” vibe that doesn’t immediately cross over Death Knight territory. The armor is characterized by a reliance on bold armor pieces with the occasional curved and spiked over-armor. These are often topped with green gems or lined with green energy, especially the helm with horns that trail with infernal energies like they are vents. In turn, this approach to aesthetics gives Warriors a much-needed “evil warlord” makeover without the excessive details.

Unlike holy Paladins and edgier Death Knights, the Warrior of World of Warcraft gets a bad rep as the rather straightforward “bruiser” among the Classes. This is made worse by their lack of thematic armor that doesn’t just become the “default plate look” shared with the other tanking Classes. Fans tired of such a stereotype could use the Earthen Battleplate to give their Warriors a change of pace. This Tier 11 Raid Set is characterized by its reliance on crystals, a theme that other Classes don’t necessarily rely on.

The overall armor seems to have an inner chainmail with a set of clasped plates for outer armor, with metal clips and bolts holding everything together. Scattered around the armor are holes that make way for crystals, with large crystals from the pauldron and the face area seemingly made to appear as though they exploded from the inside. This look can give Warriors a much-needed makeover, giving them the appearance of a truly “rugged” Class without sacrificing aesthetic quality.

Denizens of Azeroth who wish to put an end to Sargeras’s Burning Legion had to sever the Fallen Titan’s connection to the world-soul of Argus. Players tasked to do so must venture into Antorus, the Burning Throne, and defeat the very avatar of the world-soul. Doing so in Mythic Difficulty can unlock the Juggernaut Battlegear, a testament to the ancient powers of the Titans.

Among the variants of the Juggernaut Battlegear, its Mythic Variant has the most battle-worn appearance. The most noticeable aspect of the Battlegear is its glowing orange details, present in the slits of the set’s barbute helm and tracing the outline of the swords detailed on its shoulder plates. Much of the armor has spikes, and its rusted iron color scheme denotes ages’ worth of unuse.

When players finally manage to go to the mysterious Isle of Thunder in Mists of Pandaria, not only can they learn of the enmity between the Pandaren and the titan-forged Mogu, but also acquire the Battleplate of the Last Mogu. Serving as both a celebration of Mists’ Asian inspiration and giving Warriors armor to contend with the arrival of the martial artist Monk, the Battleplate boasts one of the most unique gear in the MMO.

Following cues from Chinese armor in ancient times, the Battleplate begins with a chainmail undersuit covered with plate armor adorned with geometric patterns and spirals. Most notable in the armor are its shoulder plates and helmet, featuring the Mogu’s face and glowing eyes. Among Battleplate variants, the Raid Finder Recolor stands out the most with its white plate, bronze adornments, and red cloth.

Named after the Primal Storms that raged across the Dragon Isles during the war with the Primal Incarnates, the armor set of the same name provides players with heavy plates straight out of a Monster Hunter game. While the armor boasts a multi-layered plate as its main focus, the rest of the set screams dragon parts.

Contrasting the armor’s scale coverage are dragon bone and dragon fang details held together by leather straps. Prominent aspects of the Primal Storms Plate Set are its dotted full-covered helm, as well as dragon jaw shoulder pads spread open to release breath-esque smoke. Fans who want a more regal look could opt for the blue Primal Storms gear, while those who want the warmth of nature could go for the green variant.

Before the Titans arrived in Azeroth for its ordering, they first had to purge the Black Empire and the Old Gods that dominated the realm with chaos. Unfortunately for Azeroth, the Old Gods weren’t killed but rather lay dormant, existing in an alternate reality called Ny’alotha that represented a Black Empire that once more ruled Azeroth. Should players conquer the Ny’alotha Raid, they can acquire the Transmog Set of the same name, boasting one of the most unique armor appearances in World of Warcraft gameplay with its leaning towards the eldritch.

Opposing the green fires of the fel and the purplish blue of arcane is the bleak purple of the N’yalotha set. The armor itself begins with what appears to be a bandaged inner suit covered in criss-crossing metal plates, augmented further by the molluscan eldritch iconography. Sealing the look is its sealed helmet, scattered purple diamonds, and finned shoulder plates with tentacles adorned with purple eyes.

Sitting at the highest point of Torghast is the Sanctum of Domination, the dungeon that also houses the Transmog Set of the same name. Being the nexus of power of the Jailer across the horrific soulscape of the Maw that extended to Azeroth through the mourneblade Frostmourne, it’s unsurprising how this armor resembles the Lich King and his Death Knights in terms of its skull and bones aesthetic.

However, the Sanctum of Domination is a must-have for Warriors in how its visual style seemed prototypal to the Death Knight’s iconic aesthetic. This is especially dominant in the Normal Plate Set coloration, boasting a more primal sleekness of smooth bone-esque plate that ends in stylistic spikes. Even beside a Death Knight, a Warrior wearing the Sanctum of Domination would stand out with its “fuller” appearance.

At first glance, the vibrance of the details and protrusions of the Venerated Triumvirate Battleplate vaguely resembles the Naaru and the Holy Light revered by the Draenei. This is precisely due to its nature, as players can gain the armor when they manage to purge the Seat of the Triumvirate of its Void corruption. The most notable aspects of the armor are its pointed bands of light emanating from the shoulders and the sides of the helm, resembling Naaru iconography denoting the armor’s relationship to the mystical beings.

As with other plate armors, the Battleplate begins with an inner suit of bandages before being covered with interwoven pieces of plate. Cloths are interspersed over the armor at different points, while bright golden bands line the abdomen, greaves, knees, and arms. Compared to its original variant, its Recolor version has a warmer and more vibrant color scheme.

The Battle for Dazar’alor is a raid in the Battle for Azeroth expansion that retells one of the fiercest encounters between the Alliance and the Horde in Dazar’alor, the royal pyramid of the Zandalari Trolls’ home of Zuldazar. Warriors who complete the raid may acquire the Dazar’alor Raid Plate, bearing a bone-themed aesthetic of the Trolls who lived in the region.

The most notable aspect of the armor would be the bones that trace much of the armor’s edges. Tusks also seem to be joined together to form the faulds, leg bones extending to claws for the bracers, and a short-horned skull for the helm. The most ideal version of the Dazar’alor Raid Plate to wear would be its Mythic Recolor, as the right shoulder becomes adorned with a large tusked shoulder guard complete with a frosted aura, quite unlike other armor sets.

Defying the traditional look of heavy armor among Warcraft gear would be the Covenant Court of Night, a Transmog Set that fits Warriors who want a transcendent look that doesn’t immediately fall on the holy, the undead, or the eldritch. The Covenant Court of Night fit the aesthetic of its home of Ardenweald, the Winter Queen’s realm in the Shadowlands reserved for the Wild Gods and souls devoted to nature’s protection.

This visual style extends to the Covenant armor, where a night-blue undersuit is covered by twisting coils of white branches that form a hardened exterior. The most notable aspects of the Covenant Court of Night set would be the glow of blue crystal orbs tucked inside the chest and the upper body, two protruding horns, and the symbol of the Night Fae Covenant on the forehead.

While players can acquire the Irons of the Onyx Crucible to gain a ferocious dragon-themed armor, aiming for the Class Tier Sets for Aberrus, the Shadow Crucible can get the Warrior a much-needed visual overhaul. Acquired from the raid of the same name that ventures into Neltharion’s horrific laboratory, the Warrior’s Aberrus reworks the Irons into a more fashionable set.

The Warrior’s Aberrus maintains much of the Irons’ upper body, complete with the dragon head helm, clawed bracers, and the flat dragon jaw shoulder pads. The set now gains a belt with a large shield buckle tied with a cloth, dragon foot boots, and a pristine undercoat to cover everything. Among the Warrior’s Aberrus color schemes, its red and gold Heroic Set outclasses its peers in terms of capturing the Warrior’s heroic vibrance.

Players who dominate Warlord Blackhand of the Blackrock Foundry can obtain Blackhand’s Battlegear, an armor set elevating the furnace-themed Blackrock Plate. Seemingly forged by the skilled smiths of the Blackrock clan, Blackhand’s Battlegear boasts chains holding thick plates of armor, with energy radiating from its aesthetic furnaces in the form of the helm’s eyeslits and small spaces along the joints of the set.

However, among the variants of the Battlegear, its Mythic Recolor is its most vicious iteration. Its closed helmet receives vents on the nasal area resembling a forge, complete with the orange of molten metal inside. Beneath the face is a neck guard extending to both sides, which then swirls backward via three connected spikes in a tusk pattern. Even its circular shoulder pads receive spikes at the end, completing a spikier and more brutal look befitting the Warrior.
