Akari Shimizu in the main story

Your limited characterization in anime and in Manhwa

Akari Shimizu appears for the first time at the end of Episode 21 of the Anime and Chapter 90 of the Manhwa. However, since she is a healer, we cannot see her in action during the sparring games, and in Episode 22 she only gets a few cases of screen time before being killed unexpectedly on Jeju Island.

“I want me to patch you up there, buddy? You have to pay the price.” -Akari Shimizu stops their healing skills in episode 22.

The character of Akaris is greedy for money and teases the other S-Rank hunters playfully while she is shooting her big battle and enjoys asking her to be healed. Shortly before she dies, it is implied that she was able to confess her feelings to the S-Rank-Hunter Kenzo Tanaka. However, their sentence is interrupted by the appearance of the ant king, later known as Beru. Unfortunately for fans of her in anime, this brief characterization is everything we get for her.

We don't have much to do in Manhwa. During your introductory scene in Chapter 90, your name is displayed and she is a member of the drawn swordguild together with Goto Ryuji and Kenzo Tanaka. Although some other hunters like Kei get some additional lines and characterization compared to the anime, Akari's only comments are not about the battles that they watch. It is a shame that more about her character was not included in these adjustments because its background story was interesting.

Many of the secondary characters in Solo -leveling I got an additional focus due to the cell phone game Solo -leveling: arise. As part of the tradition for the game, a number of short web tons called Hunter: Origins was published. As the name suggests, the series mostly immersed themselves in the background stories of various hunters in the series. In history 12, Akari Shimizu showed and, given the greedy nature of her character, was surprisingly emotional.

“I only have one wish. It is Himari for my little sister. I want her to be happy.” -Akari Shimizu's story during history 12.

It is shown that their greedy and stingy nature has a nobler purpose. She needs as much money as possible to help her sick younger sister Himari who spends most of the time in the hospital. We wear Himari on her back and see her last moments together before Akari drives to Jeju Island Raid. While he was happily entertaining back and forth, Akari's sister suddenly breaks down. It seems as if it had succumbed to the effects of Mana Sleeping disease that affects a small percentage of the world population.

“I wanted to leave her your responsibility. Only for a day. To see all the sights and noises and flavors that you missed.” -Akari spoke to an unconscious Himari who collapsed in her arms.

The story ends with Akari falling asleep near Himari's hospital bed and explains that she will find a way to free her from eternal sleep, and promises that her next birthday will be spent together. Sad piano music plays over the end, while Akari's words hang in the air. Unfortunately, Akari would never realize this dream in the initial timeline. With her death by the ant king, her promise would remain unfulfilled. This leaves Himari in her eternal sleep and is waiting tragically for a birthday party with her sister, who will never come now.
