If you thought that Duke Nukem was dead and gone as a franchise, then think again. The duke will be back, just not, as you think, like Adi Shankar, who contributed to bringing Castlevania and recently Devil May Cry to live the rights to the franchise.

Due to Netflix's TV show, Devil May Cry experienced a sudden increase in popularity. We went back to DMC 5 to see if the test was tested.
In an interview with Esquire, Shankar revealed that, although he was addressed with several IPs, he recently bought the rights to the Duke Nukem IP from Gearbox, just not the right to play.
When asked what his vision for a Duke Nukem adaptation looks like, Shankar had to say this:
It is a middle finger for everyone. When Duke Nukem spent in the air, a few people sat around to turn them into a brand when it is just a middle finger. Duke Nukem cannot be done by a company, because the moment a company does Duke Nukem, it is no longer Duke Nukem. I do not intend to tell me what to do in this case.
At the moment it is unclear when a possible adaptation of the shooter will be published because Shankar has his hands in several projects, but one thing is clear: he understands what Duke nukem does, well, duke nukem.
Shankar quickly became a adaptation person for video games
Apart from his work on Devil May Cry, who recently was Greenlit for a second season, Shankar has several other projects in the works that are about video games.
As early as 2017, it was announced that Shankar would lead an anime that focused on the assassin's creed franchise. It is unclear whether this project has not yet been completed, but the article refers it. Elsewhere, the Hyper -light Drift was announced to have an adaptation to Shankar at the top. If that wasn't enough, it was also emphasized in 2021 that PUBG received an adjustment, also from Shankar.
This means that Shankar is quite busy and has his hands in many projects. If Duke Nukem is next on the list, there is literally none of what will come next.
