Taylor Swift Australia 2024, concert dates, holiday with Travis Kelce

Forget rolling out the red carpet – Queensland is renaming an entire island in a bold bid to lure pop princess Taylor Swift on a Sunshine State getaway.

Swift, who has captivated the nation during her record-breaking Eras tour in Sydney and Melbourne, has almost a week between her last Australian show and her next concert in Singapore, with rumours rife she is planning some Down Under down time with NFL star boyfriend Travis Kelce.

Tourism and Events Queensland has launched an audacious bid to convince Swift to make that time in the Sunshine State, unveiling a cheeky plan to rename the stunning Vlasoff Cay on the Great Barrier Reef – unofficially at least, as Tay Cay in tribute to the modern day music icon.

The move is part of a public invitation to Swift to personally visit ‘Tay Cay’, including helicopter transfers, relaxing deck chairs, a Champagne picnic and an opportunity to snorkel in the reef amongst the stunning coral and marine life.

The invite also includes a luxury stay on a nearby exclusive private island for luxurious relaxation.

The public appeal to the ‘Love Story’ hitmaker will run in print and digital publications across the country until Tuesday.

The tiny Vlasoff Cay, a speck of sand which lies about 40km northeast of Cairns, is no stranger to the spotlight, featuring on ad campaigns for tourism and serving as a promotional stop for a tour of the AFL premiership trophy in 2020.

Swift is also no stranger to Queensland, having shelled out a small fortune for her entire entourage to stay at Hamilton Island’s exclusive qualia resort in 2015.

With Kelce telling listeners on his podcast that he was about to take an island holiday following his Super Bowl triumph for the Kansas City Chiefs, speculation has been mounting that the celebrity power couple could be headed to Hamilton Island, which has its own airport for Swift’s private jet to whisk them from the tarmac to qualia’s exclusive gated resort, where rooms can cost more than $5000 a night.

After Monday night’s final Sydney show, Swift next performs in Singapore on Saturday night, leaving ample time for her to Shake it Off and watch Sparks Fly with her new beau.

TEQ CEO Patricia O’Callaghan showed off her knowledge of Swift’s hit catalogue in a personal pitch for the superstar to head our way.

“It’s time for Taylor to enter her holiday era in Queensland,” she said.

“Jump in your getaway car and leave your cardigan at home because the sunshine is calling.

“You’ll be enchanted by the magic of our destinations as your love story with Queensland continues.

“With waters that sparkle as if bejewelled and experiences beyond your wildest dreams it’s time to kick back in style and book a vacay at Tay Cay…are you ready for it?”

There’s no guarantee Swift will take the bait, but if she does it will be rolled gold for Queensland tourism, which has a reputation for headline grabbing ad campaigns and promotions, going back to the 2009 Best job in the world competition, where a lucky Pom won the role of island caretaker on the Great Barrier Reef.

The state’s Beautiful one day, perfect the next slogan also achieved international fame and received a nod from Barack Obama during his visit for the G20 Summit in Brisbane in 2014.

Any happy snaps on social media of Swift relaxing in Queensland would be the kind of publicity money can’t buy, with the pop star boasting an astonishing 530 million followers online, making her one of the world’s greatest influencers.
