It is optional to convince the brothers and hear their true feelings does not add any content to the quest beyond influencing your choice.
After listening to both brothers, Danika will be the second to tell you her true intention: to calm both brothers down so they don't duel. When preparing the ceremonial drinks, you have the choice of which brother you would like to appease, Nether, or both.

Which result is the best?
Overall, however, there is no “good” outcome to this feud The best of the worst is calming both brothers down. It offers the lowest credits but the highest XP reward, Danika is happy and the brothers at least have a chance to reconcile. If you're more interested in credits than anything else, there's no lasting negative impact on the end of this duel. So if you choose a winner or let them fight fairly, you will get more credits even if Danika is mad at the player.
