Split fiction is summarized with video game references, including a campfire that will be familiar with Dark Souls fans

Summary

  • It takes two, was surprisingly reserved when it came to calling out other video games.

  • Split fiction goes in the opposite direction by moving into pretty much every game under the sun.

  • Assassin's Creed, Dead Space, Sonic, SSX and Metal Gear Solid are only the tip of the iceberg for everything that can be found.

Split fiction is absolutely filled with references to other video games, including Assassins Creed, Dark Souls, a way out, Sonic and even SSX. It would be easier to list the games not Reference.

Despite the number of ideas and gameplay mechanics who have thrown two minutes two minutes, there were surprisingly not so many Easter eggs that relate to games. Of course there were some, like the Street Fighter-like fight against a squirrel on the roof of an aircraft, but it was surprisingly reserved when it came to Easter eggs.

The best level of Split fiction is also the worst

The same does not apply to the new game of Hazellicht Studios, Split fiction. Despite the plot that focuses on stories that were told in science fiction and fantasy worlds, Split fiction throws the subtlety out of the window and shows his deep love for video games by moving them out in almost every round.

Split fiction certainly loves a video game reference

The list of references in Split fiction is very long, but I will choose a few highlights that should convey my point of view. One of the best in the game takes place in one of the side stories of the last Dawn called Moon Market. When you leave the leaked path at the level, you will find one of the campfires from Dark Souls, which even takes up a “Moonfire illuminated” message when you rest on it.

The opening prologue of Split Fiction hides a very obvious Assassin's Creed reference. When you get to the top of a tower, MIO and Zoe can jump into a hay bale that is waiting below. An assassin's creeding noise will imitate and Zoe will point out that it is a “leap”.

We only scratch the surface of every wink that is hidden, but one of my favorites can be found in the Space Walk Side Story. When Zoe and Mio enter their space suits, the machine, in which they enter, is incredibly reminiscent of the dead space, a game in which at least Hasmonight is interested, even if EA has left it behind.

There are so many other Easter eggs that are waiting to find in Split fiction, including a snowboard sequence in the SSX style, which mio even admits, is based on a video game that grew up and a cardboard box, in which solid snake would be very comfortable. Keep your eyes open while playing and you will surely find a call back from something you know.
