- A Warhammer streamer played through Space Marine 2 with a Ring Fit, transforming the game from a power fantasy into a hellish workout.
- The setup is surprisingly simple, so you can try it out yourself if you really want to. All you need is Bluetooth, a third-party driver, and the Ring Fit itself.
Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 isn't that difficult a game. It's mostly power fantasy where you're given a giant chainsword and an incredible horde of bugs to smash. Plug in a Nintendo Ring Fit, though, and it goes from courage and glory to one hell of a workout.
That's what YouTuber Hellstorm Wargaming did, using a third-party driver to turn his Ring Fit into an Xbox controller. Throughout the entire playthrough, he had to jog in place to move Titus, and after an hour and a half, he was so tired that he fell off a bridge with no obstacles. But the stream continued for another hour as he kept going and refused to give up.
I can't concentrate anymore, I'm so tired […] I'm just tired and that's okay. I think it's very brave of me to say that out loud.
Hellstorm even used the Ring Fit in competitive PvP, but it was so “terrible” that they called it a day after their one kill, feeling justifiably proud of the huge, unwieldy wheel they had to frantically spin around; “I think that's it, I think that's it for the Space Marine 2 Ring Fit adventure, oh my god, I'm so tired. I'm so tired.”
You can do this yourself if you really want to
If you want to play through Space Marine 2 with a Ring Fit, setting it up is surprisingly simple. All you need to do is download the Ringcon driver, which converts the inputs to those of an Xbox 360 controller.
You can then connect the two Joy-Cons you need to use the peripheral via Bluetooth (each shown separately) and let the driver run in the background. Then attach one Joy-Con to your Ring Fit and the other to your leg with the strap.
