Solution to the Silenced Cathedral Wall Paintings puzzle in Soul Reaver
Players move through the area until they find themselves in a room full of Paintings on the wallsbut there will be cube-shaped holes in these walls, along with various cube-shaped blocks scattered around. Players must rotate these blocks so that the correct image faces the correct direction. There is a simple technique that players can use to solve this puzzle.
When a player figures out where a block goes, they just have to do it Turn the block over so that the picture is facing straight up, and then flip it over so that the picture is on the correct side to fit it into the wall. Now all they have to do is stand on one side of the picture and turn the block around until it's facing the right way. Players can now sink their claws into the block and drag it into place. If the correct block is used, the game will make the sound of a key press.
There is an exception to this rule. The slot on the north wall that is higher than all the others. This puzzle comes before you have to solve a similar stone pipe block puzzle, so it's good practice.

For this hole, players must flip the block over so the correct picture lands in place. To do this, arrange the block so that the image faces the correct direction. Now stand behind the block and turn it to the front. Push the block against the wall under its hole and rotate it from the opposite side so that the same image is facing the same direction again – but at the same time it is also pushed up into the hole.
If you make a mistake, you can push two blocks in front of the hole and then drag the block onto one of the others. You can then push it off and try again. Later, there is an optional puzzle that serves as a more complicated version of this puzzle. Completing it will give you an artifact.
