Atlus has released several acclaimed JRPGs so far in 2024, but surprisingly one of the highest rated games it has released this year is Shin Megami Tensei V: Revengetechnically it's not even a new game. Instead, it's an expanded edition of a role-playing game that originally came out in 2021. This game is simply titled Shin Megami Tensei Vwas released exclusively on the Nintendo Switch and was met with a mostly positive response, although some saw it as a disappointment. It is Revenge However, the re-release brings a wealth of new additions to the base game, including a second campaign. These changes are so significant that it feels Shin Megami Tensei V: Revenge offers a completely new experience compared to its predecessor.
At the moment, SMT V: Revenge is available not only for Nintendo Switch, but also for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S and Windows PC. This isn't the first game from Atlus' back catalog, expanded or not, to be fully released across multiple platforms. Some of the Japanese developer's classic role-playing games, such as Persona 3 portable And Persona 4 Goldenwere brought to all current generation systems in 2023. While it's nice that these legacy titles are now available on different platforms, Atlus should repeat what it did with them Shin Megami Tensei V: Revenge and bring some of its modern games to more devices.

Catherine: Full Body is Trapped on PS4 and Switch
Atlus has been pursuing a multiplatform strategy lately, but there are still a handful of the company's current games that aren't available on all systems. 2019 Catherine: Full bodyFor example, it is not playable on Xbox or PC, as it is unfortunately not playable on PS4 and Nintendo Switch. However, there is a complication here. This title is a SMT V: Revenge-like re-release of a 2011 puzzle game called Catherine. While the original iteration of the game was named retroactively Catherine Classicis available and expanded on modern Xbox consoles and Windows PCs Full body Output is not. Catherine: Full body contains a lot of new content not included in the base game, so it's unfortunate that it's not accessible on more devices.
13 Sentinels: Aegis Rim is not available on Xbox or PC
The same also applies to 13 Guardians: Aegis Rim. How Catherine: Full bodyPublished by Atlus, this RTS game was released in 2019 and is currently only available for PS4 and Switch. The studio that made 13 Guardians: Aegis Riman independent company called Vanillaware, has a history of being very selective about the systems on which it releases its games, often opting for PlayStation exclusives rather than day-to-day multiplatform releases. Other than that, the latest game is 2024 Unicorn Overlordwas released simultaneously on PlayStation, Xbox and Switch, a first for the company. With that in mind, it's possible that Atlus will be ported 13 Guardians eventually on other devices (at least Xbox).
Persona 5 Strikers, SMT 3 and Persona 4 Arena Ultimax are not available on modern Xbox consoles
The hack and slash 2021 Persona 5 Strikersthe 2020 Shin Megami Tensei 3 HD Remaster and the 2013 fighting game Persona 4 Arena Ultimax – which received a re-release in 2022 – are three Atlus titles that also require Xbox ports. When it comes to modern platforms, these games are only available on PlayStation, Switch and PC. The lack of an Xbox One or Xbox Series X/S version of Persona 4 Arena Ultimax is particularly disappointing considering the game was originally released on the Xbox 360 and its predecessor, Persona 4 Arenais backwards compatible on modern Xbox devices.
Soul Hackers 2 is not available on Switch, while Etrian Odyssey Origins Collection is not available on PS5 or Xbox
While Atlus has largely neglected Xbox and PC in some of its modern releases, it has also ignored PlayStation and Nintendo. Soul Hacker 2for example, released in 2022 on all devices except the Switch, although it didn't seem too graphically demanding for Nintendo's hybrid system. Then there is Etrian Odyssey Origins Collectionwhich was released exclusively for Nintendo Switch and Windows in June 2023. It's the only Atlus game from the last two years that wasn't released on all current-gen consoles, so it would be great to see the compilation on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S one day.
