A creative LEGO set inspired by PlayStation 2 can be officially produced after being submitted by a fan. The unique setup would allow fans to build the iconic PS2 console out of LEGO bricks, right down to the controllers and internal components.
First released in 2000, Sony's PlayStation 2 became the best-selling gaming console of all time until it was dethroned by the Nintendo Switch in December 2024. Over 4,000 games were released for the hardware during its lifespan, with the PS2 selling more than 160 million units worldwide to date. 25 years later, the console's legacy is still a frequent topic of conversation in gaming, with major releases for the Final Fantasy, Kingdom HeartsAnd Grand Theft Auto Franchises on the PS2 are considered some of the best. Recently, a creative fan found a new way to show his love for Sony's iconic home gaming console, and his design could eventually end up in homes around the world.

Nintendo announces release date for new LEGO set
Two of Nintendo's franchises and LEGO are collaborating once again for several new themed sets that will be released later in January 2025.
A post from user RippleDrive on the LEGO Ideas website details plans for a LEGO PS2 set that has garnered enough support to be officially considered for mass production by the Danish company. When the set is released, PlayStation fans will not only be able to build a PS2 console out of LEGO bricks, but also craft controllers, memory cards and internal components. In its current state, the set contains over 2,000 pieces and is close to a 1:1 scale compared to the original non-slim PlayStation 2. Although it's unclear whether it will receive Sony's approval, fans are keeping their fingers crossed for the design to appear on store shelves at some point in the future. According to RippleDrive, they chose to build the PS2 because it is their “favorite video game console of all time” and “video game-related LEGO sets have been successful.”
User Submitted PS2 LEGO Set May Be Officially Released
Throughout 2024, many video game-inspired LEGO sets have found success with builders around the world, from those who took inspiration from video games Animal Crossing: New Horizons To Sonic the Hedgehog And Super Mario 64. The publication of LEGO Horizon Adventures for PC, PS5 and Nintendo Switch in November also inspired a unique set featuring protagonist Aloy, her ally Varl and fully articulated Sawtooth and Shell Walker machines.
In recent years, the series of LEGO video games developed by Traveller's Tales has gained new popularity with titles such as the iconic game LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga After its initial release in 2022, the game is enjoying great success. Although no new LEGO titles have been announced for 2025, fans are hoping for some new crossovers, and many are assuming that a new LEGO Marvel title may be on the horizon.
