Pokemon GO's Max Out update is missing a key piece of the Dynamax puzzle

Pokémon GOThe latest season of finally brings a five-year-old mechanic to the mobile title with the addition of Dynamax mons in the game's Max Out season. In addition to these new mechanics Pokémon GO Players can also find several Gen 8 Mons that were previously unobtainable in the game, including starters Grookey, Scorbunny, and Sobble. Although this update helped fill the gap of missing Gen 8 content, Pokémon GO Still missing an important part of the Dynamax mechanic, which will hopefully make its debut at some point this season.

In addition to Dynamax mechanics, Gen 8 Pokemon Sword and Shield also introduced the Gigantamax mechanic as a special version of Dynamax. Certain Mons with the ability to Gigantamax would take on new forms upon activation of the mechanic, granting access to unique G-Max moves that are even more powerful than standard Max moves. While it's great to see Niantic adapting the Dynamax mechanics Pokémon GODue to Gigantamax's unique gameplay, it feels incomplete without access to Gigantamax mons, as they had a big appeal in the mechanics in the Gen 8 games.

Pokemon GO still requires Gigantamax Forms to complete its Max Out season

Most animals with the Gigantamax form come from the 1st or 8th generation Pokémon GO There's still a lot of work to be done when it comes to adding these shapes to the game. With all of Generation 1 available in Pokémon GONiantic has some great options to choose from when introducing Gigantamax forms into the game. Additionally, the lack of a large portion of Gen 8 Mons like Coalossal and Drednaw in the game provides the perfect opportunity for Niantic to add these Mons to the game at the same time as the addition of their Gigantamax forms.

How Gigantamax could take Pokemon GO's Dynamax mechanics to the next level

The current implementation of the Dynamax mechanics in Pokémon GO lays an excellent foundation for Gigantamax forms to build upon. By limiting which Mons have the ability to Dynamax, Pokémon GO is already following Pokemon Sword and Shieldis Gigantamax's approach, which requires certain mons to have the Gigantamax factor to achieve this form when dynamaxed. This could allow Niantic to create special Max Raids at power spots, where players face off against rare Gigantamax Mons for a chance to capture one for their own team.

Similar to how Mega Raids are variations of standard raids where the raid boss is a Mega Evolved Mon, Gigantamax Mons could fill a similar role as a rare variant of standard Dynamax raids. Pokémon GO could also use a different type of Max Particle specifically for Gigantamax Mons, similar to how Mega Evolution requires Mega Energy. The potential for Gigantamax creatures is already lurking there Pokémon GONiantic's Max Out season would be wise to take advantage of this new mechanic as players get used to standard dynamaxing.
