AI is a controversial topic. While there are those who see the advantage of integrating everything with AI, there are those who believe that Skynet will fully work. AI tools have made their way into video games and are used for things like dialogue and art. Although it is evolving every day, AI-created content still cannot compete with the human touch.

Elon Musk wants to start an AI games studio? Don't worry about it
Does anyone really think this idiot is going to “make games great again”?
The truth is that AI is a broad term. Developers have been using AI in video games for years, but it's only recently begun to replace artistic expression in peripheral areas. However, PlayStation co-CEO Hermen Hulst believes there needs to be a balance to truly harness AI and advance the gaming industry.
Perfectly balanced, as all things should be
When asked by the BBC about the future of AI in gaming, Hulst said he believes AI will not completely replace humans as developers and that they need to work together to take the next step for the industry (thanks, Eurogamer ). .

Using AI voice-overs, even temporary ones, is disrespectful to actors and players.
“I suspect there will be a dual demand in gaming: one for AI-driven innovative experiences and another for handcrafted, thoughtful content,” he said. “It will be critical to find the right balance between leveraging AI and maintaining the human touch.”
While AI can produce content at will and at a fraction of the cost, only a human can make that content feel real. Hulst believes that creating a balance between the two would strengthen the gaming industry like never before. Of course, no one likes AI slop artwork and voice acting, so it's hard to imagine how this balance could be achieved, especially when jobs are on the line.
Elsewhere in the interview, Hulst and co-CEO Hideaki Nishino talked about the lessons learned from the Concord case and the evolution of the PlayStation brand beyond the gaming category and into the general entertainment category.
While talking about AI in games, Elon Musk recently announced that his artificial intelligence company xAI will create an AI-based video game studio because “too many game studios are owned by large corporations.”
