The hero shooter genre has seen many games come and go over the last eight years. Some hero shooters have managed to last a while, others have been canceled after just a few weeks. But there is one game that is still at the top of the list and that is Overwatch 2.

On December 6th Marvel Rivals will be released on PC, PlayStation and Xbox. A 6v6 hero shooter, Marvel Rivals offers very similar gameplay Overwatch 2and even includes some very similar character abilities. But while Overwatch is used to seeing competitors, Marvel Rivals has a few tricks up its sleeve that could cause some problems for Blizzard.
Marvel Rivals' The biggest and most obvious advantage is the dense roster of Marvel heroes and villains. It evokes characters from all corners of the Marvel Universe, from the X-Men to the Avengers and everything in between. This instant brand recognition is a powerful thing and could be the key to keeping players away Overwatch upon its publication.
Another strength that Marvel Rivals will be happy about the already established following when it launches. Earlier this year Marvel Rivals held a series of closed playtests. These playtests attracted over 50,000 players on launch day, many of whom are likely to return on December 6th. There's also a large portion of fans who didn't participate in the closed playtests and have been eagerly waiting for their chance to play the game for months now – and that's just launch day.
After his first introduction Marvel Rivals will begin post-launch plans immediately and begin Season 0 on release day. During the month-long season Marvel Rivals will receive six new playable characters as well as a variety of new maps. This content is likely to keep new players engaged for at least the month of December, which could be a significant problem for them Overwatch 2 Season 14, which is scheduled to release just four days later Marvel Rivals.
Overwatch 2 Season 14 is already making the right moves
