Soldier 76's Deliverance skin in Overwatch 2 offers Eldritch horror vibes at an affordable price
Soldier: 76's new Mythic weapon design combines the bony, sticky and delicate appearance of Eldritch horror monsters with modern pulse blaster technology. The rifle features the face of a demon with upturned fangs, glowing red eyes, and a mouth full of mist. This mist also emanates from the weapon when firing and firing Helix missiles. The base cosmetics also feature distinct sound effects that sound like the growls of the souls trapped in the weapon. Deliverance only increases the nervousness, animations, and horror elements with each stage upgrade, which is similar to weapon effect upgrades Valorant has.
Liberation Level 2: Reactivity
When a player is killed, two transformations occur, which are reset when Soldier: 76 dies:
- Weapon: The Deliverance weapon appears to be used to capture souls, as after a certain number of kills the player will notice that the weapon's field of view opens and a mist surrounds it. Weapon reactions also exist in other mythical weapons, such as Reinhardt's Bound Demon.
- Heads-up display (HUD): In the Ultimate Counter environment, stylized images of two skulls are gradually generated as the player scores kills. This provides rewarding feedback if the player bails out during a game.
Liberation Level 3: Flourish
This stage is essentially an inspection animation similar to the skins in Valorant And Counter Strike 2. In the case of Soldier: 76's Deliverance, two soul-like bullets escape the rifle's demon mouth and travel around the rifle. The player can trigger this animation by pressing the reload button while the weapon is fully loaded.
Liberation Level 4: Killing Effect
Like the finishers in ValorantThis 4th stage shows an animation when the player kills an enemy. Unlike finishers, which only appear when the player gets the last kill of the round, this effect is present on every kill. The Deliverance's killing effect shows the enemy disintegrating into a sort of blue mist and turning into a ball of energy that the weapon consumes. This can be interpreted as the player essentially collecting their opponent's soul.
The total cost for a complete Deliverance rifle is Overwatch 2 is 80 Prisms, which most players will need at least one fully unlocked BP cycle. Therefore, those who want to get this skin may have to hold off on purchasing other Mythic cosmetics. Realistically, players will only spend $9.99 to get their fully equipped Deliverance Rifle, in addition to playing daily games to unlock each BP tier until they have 80 Prisms. However, if you want to get to the skin and all of its upgrades quickly, you can get the Premium and Ultimate packages, which include 20 tier jumps.
