Hello Games has released a new update for No Man’s Sky, addressing reported problems with the game. While this patch only focuses on fixing bugs, it should make No Man’s Sky more enjoyable for the numerous players who still play in 2025.

Since No Man’s Sky was released in 2016, the game’s list of updates over the last nearly nine years has been extensive. Rebounding from what many considered an underwhelming launch, Hello Games has released significant updates, reworking systems and implementing many new features. For example, the developer launched the Worlds Part 2 Update at the start of 2025, bringing lots of new content and enhancements to the game. In addition to these major content drops, smaller patches are released regularly to foster an enjoyable gameplay experience for players.

No Man’s Sky: Why You Should Start Over in 2025

No Man’s Sky has been around for nearly a decade, and both newcomers and longtime players would benefit from jumping in this year.

On March 4, Hello Games dropped its most recent update for No Man’s Sky. While the patch was initially rolled out for Steam users, Hello Games stated that other platforms will receive the update as soon as possible. Known as patch 5.58, it has implemented numerous bug fixes to improve the gameplay. For instance, an issue resulting in Sentinel Walkers not spawning has been resolved. Furthermore, players should now be able to recolor Solar ships using the starship customizer without issue.

The massive bug fix list included resolutions to many other frustrating issues. Among these fixes, patch 5.58 addressed a problem that caused players to go to the surface while swimming on moons. Hello Games also resolved some visual glitches impacting environments in No Man’s Sky, and some problems linked to specific platforms were addressed. Beyond the numerous other fixes, the patch dealt with various crashes and a softlock that could occur on a derelict freighter.

Patch 5.58 is another example of the continued support for No Man’s Sky. Besides this new patch, No Man’s Sky received similar bug-fixing updates in February. Hello Games has stated that it is “listening closely” to player feedback, with more patches likely coming to improve the game before the next bigger content drop happens.

Time will tell what Hello Games has in store for No Man’s Sky throughout the remainder of 2025. The developer has already revealed that much more is being planned for the 2016 game. In addition, development continues on Light No Fire, meaning more news about the game could come later in 2025. Regardless of what comes next, it is an exciting time to be a fan of Hello Games.

  • Made a number of improvements to buoyancy and control when piloting the Nautilon on the surface of the water.

  • Fixed an issue where an expedition reward Multi-Tool with a custom name would overwrite the primary Multi-Tool’s name.
  • Fixed an issue that caused some inventory sort hover tips to clip off the edge of the screen.
  • Fixed an issue that caused expanded tech or cargo inventories not to reset properly when switching inventory pages.
  • Fixed an issue that caused some backpacks to appear very small in the inventory.
  • Localised weather anomalies are now tracked in the Analysis Visor.
  • Crabs can now be adopted as player companions.
  • Fixed an issue that could cause the “New Planet Discovered” UI to be squashed by the saving UI.

  • Fixed a rare issue that could cause a crash followed by an infinite load after claiming abandoned ships on water worlds.
