Moore Park Beach man charge with animal cruelty after snakes found inside his car, Queensland

A 22-year-old man has been charged after both dead and living snakes were found in his car on Queensland’s east coast.

The Moore Park Beach man was stopped by police on Woongarra Street, Bundaberg about 7pm on March 2 in relation to traffic matters.

Police allegedly found 13 living snakes and 13 deceased snakes “in various states of decomposition and containment” within the car.

Queensland police said the majority of the snakes were types of pythons.

Video footage captured by police shows snakes being kept within cloth bags and underneath seats throughout the car.

The snakes were seized and transported to an emergency animal hospital for examination and treatment and were later given to a local wildlife rescue organisation.

The man has been charged with 26 counts of serious animal cruelty and will appear at Bundaberg Magistrates Court on April 22.
