Although the world-building and character development in the original were detailed and commendable, New waves commits the sin of forgetting key characters and devaluing them in an almost criminal way.

Ultimately it's all about giving weight to the MC, and the rest of the cast was just there to fill in the corners of the picture. Shi-Woon developed into a generic shounen protagonist and his performance in the second installment was lackluster compared to the previous series. In the end, an anti-climatic ending undoes everything the MC has learned in the worst-written betrayal arc fans will ever see in a martial arts manhwa. Makes no sense at all.

One of the longest fantasy manhwa runs that ended lamely

When a manhwa lasts longer than 10 years, you grow fond of its characters. This is even more true when the author allows the protagonist to grow as readers devour one chapter after another. Kim Sarae did an excellent job with this. The story of Enzu and Iremi began as children and ended as adults on a ship that luckily left on time. But its ending was so strangely unfulfilling and left so many gaps that fans thought the author grew tired of his work and decided to scrap it himself.

After more than a decade of fantasy journeys, magical mysteries remained unsolved, and a rushed ending ruined much of the carefully constructed world-building to provide a sort of fan service and a false sense of continuity. Iremi and Enzu eventually raised Ethermask's son, although the main conflict of the story was that he was unable to raise a family because he had lost the ability to do so (he sort of took over from the story's main characters to fill that void). ). The ending makes no sense at all.
