Inquisition offers unforgettable journey in Thedas

Dragon Age: Inquisition was released a decade ago in 2014. It brought many firsts to BioWare, including the first entry developed on EA's Frostbite Engine. This led to one Dragon Age Game that brought incredible heights with some unpleasant spots, such as the now infamous Hinterlands problem. One of the areas in which it excelled, however, was the way it made Thedas a more unique fantasy setting, with a strong and consistent narrative thread that could be traced across the entire timeline.

Dragon Age reveals its lore in ways that go beyond simple presentation, such as in letters, books, and notes that show the different and diverse perspectives of the people living in Thedas. Instead of simply expanding the lore, Dragon Age: Inquisition began to deconstruct some of the known truths in Thedas, particularly the religions of the Elves, Dwarves, and the Church.

Expand the world of Dragon Age with Inquisition

Dragon Age: Inquisition was a game that foregrounded the deconstruction of several themes, including that of the “Chosen One” narrative. The way the main story deals with religion and legends, from their often humble origins to their perpetuation in greatness, was a huge departure from that Dragon Age 2is a smaller, self-contained story and not so much a return to Origins of the Dragon Age' Sound like some players wanted. This helped establish the pattern Dragon Ageis the pattern of creating new experiences on multiple levels in each game in the series, including gameplay and narrative themes.

One of the greatest legacies ever Dragon Age: Inquisition What remained was the trace it left behind Dragon Age's tradition. Where Origins of the Dragon Age And Dragon Age 2 founded and created the foundations of the world of Thedas, Dragon Age: InquisitionThe revelations deconstructed parts of it. However, rather than contradicting established lore, the deconstruction of Dragon AgeThe traditions were consistent with the themes of Dragon Age: InquisitionStory about the origin of religious figures. With a literal religious figure as a party member, posing as himself in his purest form before the burden of legend clung to him, Dragon Age: InquisitionThe themes are difficult to forget.

Making the world of Dragon Age more complex

The addition of Dragon Age: InquisitionThe latest DLC for Trespasser further illustrated this theme, particularly as it addressed the legacy of the Inquisition and the question of whether the Inquisition should be disbanded or continued as a powerful force in Thedas. This all culminated in the final conversation with Solas, where the Inquisitor had the opportunity to question him about his role in his rebellion, about the figure that remained in the memory of the people he saved and those who remained.

Dragon Age: Inquisition is still criticized today for its huge open worlds full of side quests that amount to little more than a lot of work. Another point of contention was the power system, which sometimes threw the story into a tailspin, preventing those who wanted to bypass the fetch quests from progressing in the main questline. This criticism was heard loud and clear by BioWare, and while it was there Mass Effect: Andromeda, Dragon Age: The Veil Guardian launched without these concerns. Despite these disadvantages Dragon Age: Inquisition is still considered a strong role-playing game today with a narrative identity that called the shots Dragon Age series spanning an entire decade.
