Hunter x Hunter Chapter 405: Two Hisokas

Hunter x Hunter 405 impresses, as do the previous chapters before it. In HxH In 405, the story deviates from the storylines surrounding the Kakin Princes and Kurapika and instead refocuses on the story of the mafia war and the Phantom Troupe.

This chapter sees the return of a fan-favorite character, Hisoka, as his involvement in this storyline continues to grow. The preparations for what is to come are immense.

The real Hisoka returns

The previously seen Hisoka was Bonolenov

Hunter x Hunter 405 begins with a game of poker and reveals the return of a long-awaited character, Hisoka. Previously in HxHFans had seen what they thought was Hisoka found by members of Xi-Yu Zakuro and Lynch. However, Hisoka was a fake, meaning Hisoka was seen for the first time in a long time.

This chapter shows Hisoka's thoughts. It turns out that Hisoka had no interest in fighting the Chimera Ants, despite her insane power. He was also not interested in Halkenburg's abilities, as he learned that it was a group ability and not that he could fight 1v1. Hisoka also revealed that he has no interest in fighting groups or non-humans, no matter how powerful they are. Hisoka wants to be able to destroy his enemy one-on-one.

I'm normal. Group games or animal games don't do anything for me. All I want is to ravage a partner one on one. –Hisoka

Shortly after, fans got to see another Hisoka after the first Hisoka. This is actually not the real Hisoka, but rather Bonolenov, an underrated member of the Spiders who disguises himself as him and uses his Nen ability Metamorphosis to follow Chrollo's command. Metamorphosis works by allowing Bonolenov to transform into someone he has spoken to, and he can maintain that form as long as he is face to face with that person. Bonolenov also believes he can transform for shorter periods of time on people smaller than him.

Chrollo gave Bonolenov this risky mission to give the mafia families the impression that they had kept the balance on the Black Whale. If the Mafia family believes they are monitoring Hisoka, they won't have any problems with the roving Phantom Troupe. This was seen in previous chapters when a Xi-Yu took in the fake Hisoka. But something didn't go according to plan when Lynch, a woman with a Nen ability that forces anyone she hits and asks a question to answer truthfully, asked Bonolenov if he was Hisoka, to which he replied no. This caused Bonolenov to kill her as she knew too much. However, he kept Zakuro alive because he needed him.

Currently, Bonolenov has changed his disguise from Hisoka to something that looks like an owl, one of the shadow beasts seen back in the Yorknew arc.

Chrollo's hunt for a powerful Nen ability

This Nen ability will finally kill Hisoka

In Hunter x Hunter 405, Bonolenov seemed to be worried about Chrollo's mental state after the deaths of Shalnark and Kortopi. Chrollo had asked him to transform into Hisoka, and if he found Hisoka, to transform into someone else and, most importantly, not fight him. Bonolenov was more than willing not to fight Hisoka as he would be at a great disadvantage anyway.

However, Bonolenov reveals that Chrollo didn't bring any of this up during the meeting as he probably wants to deal with Hisoka all by himself. Due to Chrollo's condition, Bonolenov would prefer Nobunaga and his group to take care of Hisoka.

It turns out that Chrollo is actually after this black whale, which gives him the power to kill Hisoka for good. The treasure in question definitely refers to a Nen ability that he wants to steal with Skill Hunter. However, what this ability is is unknown, but it is not impossible that Togashi has already shown it somehow. It's possible that whatever ability Chrollo seeks will spell his end once he uses it on Hisoka. This could soon mean the end of the Phantom Troupe.

This chapter also shows Chrollo walking alone. An announcement was broadcast on the news marking the 10th anniversary of the alleged brutal murder of someone called Mr Lisnorth. This man posed as the head of an organization that helped underprivileged children; However, what he actually did is much darker. He was one of the men involved in the brutal murder of Sarsa, a little girl from Meteor City whose death led to the creation of the Phantom Troupe.

This man was definitely killed by the spiders 10 years ago in revenge. Chrollo just thinks about how embarrassed people are believing that this man was a good person and everything the media says about him.

The Phantom Troupe and the Heil-Ly

• The Heil-Ly don't behave like a mafia family
• The Heil-Ly members are getting stronger and stronger

In HxH 404, the last panel showed Nobunaga with his group, which includes Feitan and Phinks. They had abandoned their plan to go straight to the Heil-Ly hideout and instead wanted to ask the other mafia families a few questions. In HxH 405, fans see them doing just that. Nobunaga meets with Keni Wang and Tajao, the underboss and vice-boss of the Cha-R family. Nobunaga asks them about the leader of Heil-Ly and how they function as a group. Heil-Ly was recently taken over by a new leader, Morena, after the previous one died. Wang admits that they don't know Morena well enough to know her true intentions, as Heil-Ly, unlike the other two mafia families, kills many innocent civilians.

Nobunaga and his group realize that Heil-Ly wants to destroy everything, including everyone on this ship and basically Kakin himself. They also come to the conclusion that by killing people they gain more power.

At the end of the chapter, Tajao leads Nobunaga's group to a previously locked door – one they said they would be allowed to use once they truly worked together. This door is a passage between the different levels of the Black Whale.

Hunter x Hunter Chapter 405 reintroduces Morena along with the rest of the Heil-Ly. From the looks of it, many of the members have risen drastically, with Dogman currently being the highest at 62. He is revealed to be able to smell a person's Nen type and Nen proficiency and even fully identify them depending on how close they are in the distance to him. Morena wants them to kidnap someone and force them to work with him, but that person is currently unknown. It appears that they are not a Nen user, so it is unknown what she wants from them.
