How to upgrade the PTM weapon in Stalker 2: Heart Of Chernobyl

During your adventures in, you'll find dozens of powerful weapons Stalker 2: Heart of Chernobylbut one will always be at your side: the PTM in the form of Skif's pistol. This trusty sidearm is locked as a quest item and will never leave your inventory.

There are many more PTM pistols in the zone, and you can upgrade them with special attachments and mods to increase their effectiveness. The PTM or Skifs pistol can easily carry you through the entire game, and an upgraded example makes for an impressive secondary weapon that is unlikely to ever run out of ammo.

How to update the PTM

You can update the PTM and any weapon currently in your inventory at a technology vendorwhich you can find at most bases in the zone. The first one you will encounter is Lens in Zalissyawhere you can spend a few hundred coupons on each of the three possible upgrades.

With these three upgrades, the PTM is not only takes less of youEquip cargobut you will also mean that you have to do it Take your shots less and get more consistent headshots on enemies with head protection.

This second upgrade becomes particularly important as more enemies have this armor later in the game.

However, two additional attachments for the PTM are not available in a tech shop: the pistol silencer and the high capacity PTM magazine.

As you would expect, the silencer ensures that your shots are quieter, helping you with stealth if that's your thing. The The high capacity PTM magazine increases the number of cartridges the PTM can hold to 12of 8. Getting your hands on these items requires a little more work, but neither is hard to find.

Where to find the pistol silencer

There are several locations in Stalker 2 where you can obtain a pistol silencer for use with the PTM (and several other weapons). The easiest way is to go there the hiding place in the boiler housewhich you can easily access shortly after leaving the tutorial.

To equip the suppressor, Drag it to the icon of Skif's pistol or another PTM while you have the weapon equipped. To equip it, open the weapon options (which you would use to unload a weapon, for example) and select the silencer. It will be disarmed from the weapon and returned to your main inventory.

How to get the high capacity PTM magazine

We were only able to find two of these high capacity PTM magazines in play, and both are in the bottom zone.

The first is in the deepest part of the sphere, where you meet Solder during the Quest “Behind the Seven Seals”.on a table in Solder's room.

The second and easier to get magazine is here the small building on the western edge of the Northern Checkpoint. You can go there before or after completing Behind Seven Seals and grab the magazine from the table next to some radios.

Be careful of the guards who will probably be there for most of the game. Since they are in the lower zone, there is not much resistance to be expected against equipment from later games.

You can buy the pistol silencer at any time if you don't want to search for it even though the merchants selling it are outside the Small Zone. Specifically, these are:

• Sidorovich in Rookie Village in Cordon, east of the Small Zone.
• WO Komisarov in the cement factory in the northeast corner of the map.
• Ragman in Rostokthe large city on the map west of Garbage.
• Viktoria Dorozhnyuk at STC Malachite in the far west of the map.

Of the vendors selling pistol silencers, Sidorovich is by far the best if you want an early gameas he is located very close to the Lesser Zone and the Rookie Village where he lives provides easier access to the eastern parts of the map as well as a secure base of operations from which to work.
