Best weapons against the Guardian in Witchfire
The Guardian is a great example of an enemy design that looks scary but is easy to defeat Witchfire. The fast-paced shooter combines Souls-like and rogue-lite elements in a dark fantasy setting, so overwhelming enemy designs are part of the hunt.
The overseer appears as the Grim Reaper, floating in the air with an all-seeing lantern instead of a scythe. He is one of the roaming enemies in the game, shining his lantern into every nook and cranny to find the Preyer (you) who dares to take the witch.
Witchfire
currently has three familiars (bosses), one for each map. The overseer is not one of them. He's just a new enemy type that you can face on a higher difficulty level.
But don't be afraid of him. Even though the Guardian looks like something out of a nightmare, you only need a little strategy to deal with him. This isn't one of those enemies that makes you think twice about taking on them because of the risk of dying and losing your precious, volatile Witchfire Crystals. Here's how to defeat him.
How to find the warden
The overseer can only be Found on the Scarlet Coast and Irongate Castle In Witchfire. The two cards become available after you upgrade your Gnosis to level 1 and level 4 respectively. Be careful though, because Gnosis is a permanent upgrade.
The Guardian is always marked on your map with an Illuminati-like eye symbol, as shown in the image above. It also influences the weather in a large area. So if you notice that the sky has turned dark and you hear thunder, the Guardian will move towards your location.
How to defeat the Guardian in Witchfire
The Overseer will roam the map with a lamp to find you Witchfire. When he sees you, the Guardian will raise his hand to summon a group of enemies before disappearing. He will respawn elsewhere on the map after a while, so all you have to do is a small window to hit him in every encounter. If you fail, take care of his loyal cultists and pursue him around the map again. Aside from this summoning and disappearing act, the Guardian has no other attacks or spells Witchfire.
If you are spotted by the guard, your disaster meter in the top left corner will increase. When full, the witch creates an anomaly where you can choose between defeating the summoned disaster or using the portal to return home.
Best weapons against the Guardian in Witchfire
The The easiest way to defeat the Guardian is to stun him and use a weapon that can do a lot of damage before he can disappear. The demonic weapon “Vulture” and the spell “Cone of Frost” are an excellent combination against the Guardian. Freeze him with the Cone of Frost spell and switch to the Vulture to finish him off with just three arrows, as shown in the gameplay footage below.
Note that you still need to plan an ambush. To walk across an open field is to be caught by the overseer's lamp Witchfire. Confirm his location on the map and run ahead to find a corner or vantage point. Wait for the warden to come to you. When he comes within range or is almost to you, jump out to finish him off.
An improved Hangfire hand cannon (at least M2) is another recommended weapon against the Guardian. His explosive projectiles deal massive damage to an area with each reload, which is perfect if the Guardian manages to summon his minions. It only takes two clips to take down the Guardian and his summon, as shown in the gameplay footage below.
The other strategy that works against the Guardian is to keep him out of sight from a long distance. The upgraded Hypnosis and Hailstorm rifles (M2 at least) are highly recommended if you can land headshots. However, keep in mind that this method can easily fail if you are not careful.
The warden only needs to see you once Witchfire. You have to land a critical shot, go back into cover, wait for him to look elsewhere, and come out to land another shot before repeating the cycle. This can be difficult to accomplish if you cannot see the Warden behind your chosen cover, but is probably a preferred method for beginners Witchfire who are still getting familiar with the fast-paced combat mechanics.
Rewards
The Overseer Always drops a second Mystery Summonwhich you can use to upgrade your equipment Witchfire. You'll need a lot of these considering the dozens of weapons, spells, and magic items in the game.
While you can research (craft) M2 incantations in the workshop, this requires a lot of gold. Therefore, the overseer is farmed Witchfire is the best way to upgrade everything while saving your valuable gold.
The Guardian will sometimes respawn if you kill him, right after he summons his minions. This is a bug that should be fixed in a future update. Until then, feel free to use it to farm as many Second Mystery summons as possible.
