Best equipment for fighting Altan
General Altan is an intimidating boss fight in Rogue Prince of Persia. They are by far the least human in appearance of the cast introduced into the game, using their monstrous bodies as weapons in the boss fight. Similar to Berude and Baatar, you need a high level of agility and an awareness of their attack patterns.

The trick to winning this fight is to use the arena to your advantage. In true Prince of Persia style, once you've mastered dodging over walls and ceilings, this fight becomes much easier and potentially a more reliable route to the palace than challenging Berude.
How to reach Altan
Altan can be found in public bathsan alternative third level to the outer city walls. The easiest way to reach this place is through the edge of the village and the aqueduct plains.
A few more progress milestones must be collected to access the public pools. It seems to be available after defeating Berude for the first time.

Best equipment for fighting Altan
As an alternative to the first boss, you don't want to spend too many of your upgrades and abilities on specifically defeating Altan. There's still a lot of content to get through after you win, and not all of the gear will help you in later battles like Baatar. Certain upgrades and equipment will help you defeat him for the first time and give you leeway as you learn his attack patterns.
Anahita upgrades are a good choice for the encounter. You will almost always have a full set of potions going into battle, maximizing your survivability. Anahita's Blessing reduces damage taken while in water.
Although normally unreliable, it is functionally always active in this encounter. Anahita's charisma is also constant Technique for breaking protective auras This doesn't depend on Altan using a specific attack pattern.

So combine these weapons with medallions that can give you additional elements like resin to create big damage combos.

- The chakram can consistently Hit an enemy multiple times when their position is static and Altan rarely moves. The bow is a simpler fire-and-forget weapon that you can use whenever you have energy.
- Berude's Gauntlet can be used when jumping over a vertical wave for a risky counterattack while the Stealth Spirit can extend the time you stay in the air in case you swerve too early or too late.

Altan's attack pattern
Altan's attacks revolve around either his tentacles or the water he relies on. His combat places a heavy emphasis on vertical dodging. Most attacks target either the ceiling or the ground and can be easily avoided by switching between the two.

Altan's second and third phases

You can no longer jump over the first wave and then immediately counterattack, but must stay on the ceiling until all waves are over.
Jumping over Altan is still a viable way to avoid the vertical waves when he's at the edge of the arena. If you climb over him in the middle of the arena,
it will change the direction of the second and third waves.
