Hisoka vs. Chrollo Round 2, explained

In the most recent one HxH In subsequent chapters, Togashi has clearly hinted at a possible rematch between two monstrous Nen users, Chrollo Lucilfer and Hisoka. These two fought an intense battle in the same story arc. But the way things are going, they could face each other again.

However, this time Chrollo's life is not guaranteed and he could die before the end of this arc. The end of the Phantom Troupe could be very near Hunter x Hunter.

Hisoka and Chrollo's story

Hisoka was a member of the Phantom Troupe

The Phantom Troupe and Hisoka have always been very interesting parts of the HxH story. Hisoka was introduced in the first story arc of HxHwith the events of the Hunter's Trial developing, while the Phantom Troupe made their first proper appearances during the Yorknew arc, which focused heavily on them, as well as Kurapika, a character whose goal is to get revenge on them for what what they have done to the Kurta clan. However, due to their close connection to Kurapika's story and character, they were mentioned much earlier in the series.

In the “Heaven's Arena” story arc, it was revealed that Hisoka was a member of the Phantom Troupe. Specifically, he was number 4 in the Phantom Troupe. However, shortly after, the author made it clear that Hisoka had no real loyalty to this group and that his only motivation for being part of the Spiders was to fight their leader, Chrollo Lucilfer.

Unfortunately, at the end of the Yorknew City arc, he was unable to fight Chrollo as his Nen was sealed by Kurapika. This put Hisoka in an awkward situation where he wanted to exorcise Chrollo so he could fight him.

Although the task sounded simple, it could only be accomplished after the events on Greed Island, where they managed to find a Nen exorcist for him. Even though he was exorcised, Chrollo was still unwilling to fight Hisoka. In the final anime arc, Hisoka was present at the 13th Hunter Chairman Election, but Chrollo and the Phantom Troupe were not present at all.

To actually witness their fight, fans had to wait much longer. While their fight has unfolded in the manga, it has yet to be animated. It took place during the most recent manga arc, the follow-up competition that took place on the Black Whale.

Hisoka and Chrollo's first fight

The most anticipated fight in Hunter x Hunter was undoubtedly the fight between Hisoka and Chrollo, a fight that Togashi has been teasing for decades. Finally, fans were able to read this battle as it unfolded, starting with Chapter 351 of HxH, and live up to the hype. After spending a lot of time avoiding Hisoka, Chrollo finally decided to fight him in Heaven's Arena. The reason it took Chrollo so long was because he needed some preparation time to ensure his victory against an enemy as powerful as Hisoka.

Chrollo even borrowed Nen abilities from his Phantom Troupe members, particularly Shalnark and Kortopi. During this fight he used a number of interesting abilities, such as sun and moon, convert hands, command stamp and so on. Chrollo even created the Bookmark ability, which allows one to use more than one ability from his Skill Hunter book at the same time.

Because of this, despite Hisoka's talent and power, he was overwhelmed by Chrollo's intense planning and skill and ultimately lost that battle. This fight technically ended in Hisoka's death, but even death couldn't stop him, as before his death he relied on Bungee Gum to pump his heart and lungs to bring him back to life, and it worked as expected .

While the Phantom Troupe believed Hisoka had finally died after his defeat against Chrollo, Machi was surprised when Hisoka woke up and immobilized them. Hisoka spared her life, but he wouldn't do the same to some of the other members of the squad. That same night, he took Shalnark and Kortopi's lives to ensure that Chrollo would never be able to use their abilities again. Due to Hisoka's revival, he has returned much stronger and has a desire to kill all spiders.

Chrollo wants to kill Hisoka once and for all

After Hisoka kills two members of the Spider, Shalnark and Kortopi, the Phantom Troupe now hunts him down to kill him for good. In the same way, Hisoka hunts the spiders. Both the Spiders and Hisoka are aboard the Black Whale.

All members of the Phantom Troupe try to reach Hisoka before Chrollo himself. This is due to the fact that they believe that a rematch between Chrollo and Hisoka would mean the death of Chrollo and possibly the end of the Phantom Troupe as fans currently know them.

According to Bonolenov, Chrollo is currently looking for a special treasure on the Black Whale. This treasure is most likely a Nen ability from someone on this ship. Who this is and what this ability entails is currently unknown. The only thing fans can take away from this is that whatever this ability is, it will kill both Hisoka and Chrollo.

As things stand, Hisoka is being pursued by Bonolenov. Even since his revival, he is much stronger and may even be immortal. Chrollo believes it is necessary to find this treasure to finally kill Hisoka, meaning that Hisoka could have the potential to revive himself after any death, which could make him immortal under normal circumstances.

A rematch between these two powerful characters is possible in this story arc, and this rematch will definitely be the end of Chrollo and perhaps even Hisoka if he succeeds – by killing two of Togashi's most popular characters. Kurapika could also be involved in all of this, as he is also currently on board the Black Whale. How he could play his role for now is still a mystery, as he is currently very busy with the issues surrounding the Kakin Princes and the protection of Woble. If Chrollo and the Phantom Troupe die at the hands of Hisoka, Kurapika would have no point in continuing. Therefore, his participation in their fight is absolutely necessary.
