Events like the destruction of Meridia and perhaps even the Truth Enforcers Warbond seemed to be the basis for the important content, but that doesn't appear to be the case. What the Illuminati can do to make up for the long wait

Adding the Illuminate to Helldivers 2 can expand the game in many ways, making it an extremely useful addition despite the long wait. If Arrowhead Game Studios wants to make sure it's worth the wait, it can do that by bringing with it things like the following with the faction's release:

More weapons and armor, especially those that utilize new technology the Illuminati may have developed while they were away
An expansion of the galactic map as the Illuminati may have taken over other planets that the Super-Earth wishes to claim for the sake of galactic freedom
We're bringing back some of the classic Illuminate troops and adding new ones to the mix to give players more variety

The Illuminate faction will have to make the landing at great expense, especially since the wait for their possible arrival has taken so long. Arrowhead Game Studios needs to add the Illuminate sooner rather than later, because if the developer continues to delay the faction's return, it might not have the lasting game-changing impact that was expected.
