Work on the third and final part of the Final Fantasy 7 Remake trilogy is in full swing. And even though the second installment, Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth, isn't releasing until this year, fans are already looking forward to seeing how the story comes to an end – which is a huge relief for the original game's director.

As GamesRadar+ reports, original Final Fantasy 7 director and Rebirth producer Yoshinori Kitase discussed the third part in an interview with Edge Magazine. Here he reveals he's optimistic about the “excitement” ahead of the next game, saying it's a sign the team “haven't blown it.”

What we know so far about Final Fantasy 7 Remake Part 3

Zack in Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth carries Cloud over his shoulder.

Various main actors and producers of the Final Fantasy 7 Remake series were surprisingly open about the third part and revealed some details about the game. First of all, we know that despite the differences in the first two parts, it should remain faithful to the ending of the original game. The plot has already been written.

We also know that the Highwind airship will play an important role in the game. More specifically, we will be able to “fly around the map freely,” which should make traversal much easier.

There's no word on a release window yet, but that's hardly surprising since Rebirth only launched this year. If we have a similar wait between games as last time, then there are still a few years to go.
