Fallout 76 serves as a multiplayer spin-off to the franchise, taking players into the treacherous post-nuclear environment of Appalachia. The Stand out Franchise has always put roleplaying first, but Fallout 76 takes this gameplay even further through a multiplayer version of the series to provide even more immersive moments. Although the role-playing game is one of the top franchises in the genre, until recently it only allowed players to take on the roles of humans.
Thanks in part to the success of Amazon Prime's live-action Stand out series and the overwhelmingly positive response to actor Walton Goggins as The Ghoul, Fallout 76 will introduce playable Ghouls in early 2025. This represents a major turning point for the title and the series as a whole, as it potentially opens the door for more non-human races to become playable characters. While there aren't many non-human options that really make sense, there is one standout race that feels like a given: super mutants.

After Ghouls, Fallout 76 should next consider introducing playable super mutants
Another iconic race of the Fallout franchise
Super mutants are arguably just as recognizable in the franchise as their ghoul counterparts. By exposing people Stand outBy using the FEV virus, victims are transformed into massive beasts that pose a major threat throughout the wasteland. While most super mutants players come into contact with tend to be hostile, there are some notable members of the race who are far more docile. Make more room for Fallout's other races as a star in Fallout 76
Although the upcoming introduction of Ghouls in Fallout 76 is probably thanks to Walton Goggins' performance, hopefully this inspires Bethesda to look into other creatures too Stand outis a fascinating piece of lore that helps expand the possible playable characters Fallout 76or even future Stand out games. Super mutants would be the most logical choice, not only because of their iconic nature, but because both super mutants and ghouls originate as humans. Fallout 76 Players must work towards becoming a ghoul, and the same method can be used to become a super mutant. For example, there could be a mission that brings players into direct contact with the FEV, thus initiating the journey to full mutation.
Before players can become a ghoul, they must reach level 50 to unlock the corresponding quest.
There are other races, like the robotic synths, that could be added in the future, but Ghouls and Super Mutants retain the story of that Stand out based on humanity. Playable synths would be fascinating, but ghouls and super mutants allow Bethesda to bring about these transformations through quests and player actions. It would be difficult to implement a solid way for players to take on a synth role.
Fallout 76 introduces playable Ghouls and presents a world full of possibilities
The future of Fallout could use ghouls as further inspiration
The success of Amazon Prime's live action Stand out The series surprised many and sparked renewed interest in the games. While each title has seen an influx of players, Fallout 76 really had a moment to shine. As many are speculating about season 2 of Stand outIt will be interesting to see how the series will influence games in the future.
Fallout 76
will provide ghoul-specific benefits and abilities, particularly with radiation.
It might even be possible in the future Fallout 5 to include playable ghouls, and if that's the case, perhaps super mutants will be introduced as well. When super mutants don't get a chance to be in the spotlight Fallout 76Then Fallout 5 would be the next best stage to present such an idea. There is no telling what the future will look like Stand out holds up, but playable ghouls will hopefully expand the possibilities for role-playing games.
