Key insights
- The Sims 4: Life and Death expansion adds new urn options so Sims can choose unique resting places.
- The urns in the game range from classic designs to special designs for occult states such as servos, aliens, vampires and more.
- Players can choose urns based on their Sims' personalities, with options like the Golden Wings Urn, Mermaid Urn, and the beautiful Space Urn.
As the saying goes, there's more than one way to skin a cat, and there's more than one way to bury a Sim. Traditionally, Sims whose remains were buried outside had headstones, while Sims who remained indoors had urns. With the release of The Sims 4: Life and Death, Sims can now have urns wherever they want.

All of the urns added in this update are great additions to the game, but which ones are the best? What are the best places for ashes? Look no further: These are all the urns in The Sims 4: Life and Death, sorted by rank.
9 The original urn
A classic is unbeatable
This urn is simply a classic. The Original Urn was the very first urn added to the game and will be familiar to any Simmer who has stored a Sim's ashes in it. For those who want something classy yet simple, this urn is the perfect choice.
Urns have been in the series since the original Sims game and work the same way as gravestones. Be careful not to smash them, otherwise the ghosts might be unhappy.
8 The servo urn
Into sleep mode
All men must die – but servos are not men. Um, well, it seems they too must die. This urn waits for servos that die. It is made of metal and carved to resemble the servos themselves, paying a fitting tribute.
Fun fact: Servos can only die if they lose control, get crushed by a Murphy bed, water, and (strangely) rabid rodent fever. Make sure your servos don't get infected with rabies or they'll end up in this urn.
7 The Alien Urn
The last spaceship
Occult states have their own special urns, and the Alien Occult State is no exception. Aliens who choose to rest in urns receive a large metal urn with a slight silver sheen. As you move the camera around the urn, an intricate octagonal pattern becomes visible.

Since Aliens were the first occult state added to the game, this is the first special urn to be added. With the Life and Death update, everyone can choose this special urn.
6 The urn with the golden wings
On the wings of angels
Wings have always been considered a symbol of death. It makes sense that an urn that takes up this motif would be added to the game. The Golden Wings Urn is an urn that appears to give your deceased Sims wings. You don't have to worry about being buried in your best suit when you can gain wings after death.
This urn is made of gold and is quite simple except for the wing design. If your Sim wanted to become an angel (or was a devil with a sense of irony), try out the Golden Wings Urn.
5 The simple urn
No need to get excited
Some Sims would prefer a simpler resting place. The Simple Urn is waiting for these Sims. The Simple Urn is a small urn made of marble material. The only decoration is a gold lid and a gold band around the top.
Urns can be selected by the player by clicking on the urn/tombstone. These can be changed once the Sim has passed away so that the correct urn can be used at the funeral.
4 The mermaid urn
Burial at sea
For Sims with a love of seafaring, there's no better final resting place than the Mermaid Urn (at least until burial at sea comes along). The Mermaid Urn is a large cream colored urn made up of mosaic pieces. A tail and the sea were rendered into small pieces of stone.

Remember to choose an urn based on your Sims' personality. This adds a new level of immersion to the game and makes each Sim's life feel special.
3 The shining urn
Shine among the ashes
This urn is unique because it looks like it is made from a glowing material. It almost looks like it is made of carved moonstone, and a deep glow seems to come from within. Moonstone doesn't seem like a stable material for making urns, but it works here.
Also interesting is the shape, which is carved in a flowing, almost water-like manner. This urn would be perfect for the Sims who really want something unique for their loved ones or themselves.
2 The vampire urn
Dust to dust
Unfortunately, the only way a vampire Sim can truly die is through a mandatory cremation. Vampire Sims can die from sunlight and turn to ash in just a few moments. Ugh.

At the very least, the vampire urn provides a suitably royal resting place for the kings and queens of the night. This urn is made of black stone and features a vampire bat on the lid. It is the perfect resting place for vampires unlucky enough to see a sunrise.
1 The space urn
Rest under the stars
This urn is probably the most beautiful of all. The Space Urn added in the Life and Death expansion is a simple but eye-catching urn that appears to have been inspired by Van Gogh's Starry Night.
Choosing an urn can be difficult. It's difficult to fit an entire Sim life into one object. But for those Sims who wanted beauty even in death, the Space Urn is a wonderful option.
