Elon Musk’s misleading election posts viewed 1.2 billion times: study

WASHINGTON: False or misleading claims about the US election posted by Elon Musk on X have amassed nearly 1.2 billion views this year, a regulator reported on Thursday, underscoring the billionaire's potential influence in the highly polarised race for the White House. Ahead of the November election, researchers have raised alarms that X, formerly Twitter, is a hotbed of political misinformation. They have also pointed out that Musk, who bought the platform in 2022 and is a vocal supporter of Donald Trump, appears to be influencing voters by spreading falsehoods on his personal account.
