With Dragon Balls To mark the 40th anniversary, many mangaka young and old have paid tribute to Toriyama and his revolutionary work by redrawing a Dragon Ball Volume cover for the Dragon Ball Super Gallery project. Oda, the mangaka of One Piece, has always been one of Toriyama's biggest supporters and he recently honored him by participating in the project.

Dragon Ball is now a series that is 40 years old. The series was first published in 1984 by the series' late mangaka, Akira Toriyama, who died earlier that year.
To commemorate this important milestone in the series, the Dragon Ball Super Gallery project was carried out.
Eiichiro Oda, the mangaka of One piecetook part in it. For his contribution, he redrew the manga cover for volume 42 of Dragon Ball. This cover features Goku, the main character of Dragon Ball.
Oda's relationship with Toriyama
Oda has always admired Toriyama and even claimed he was a god. His work One Piece, like most shonen manga, is heavily inspired by Toriyama's Dragon Ball, as it had a revolutionary influence on the entire industry.
Toriyama's death was big news earlier this year and affected many who loved the series.
Here's what Oda once had to say about Toriyama and his love for Dragon Ball:
“I bought the first volume of the Dragon Ball manga series when I was in elementary school, but I didn't buy the second volume! I always read the chapters in WSJ magazine, and when the last volume 42 was published, I went to the bookstore and saw it, but I didn't buy it! Thank you for giving me the opportunity to redraw it. And now I wish I could buy this volume while Toriyama-sensei is still alive” – Eiichiro Oda
Fans can expect to see more commemorative art from Oda after Toriyama Dragon Ballespecially if a new one Dragon Ball Event appears. Oda has done this countless times and he would like to pay tribute to the legendary mangaka again.
