There is tension in the air Cyberpunk 2077 Sequel to Project Orion. This statement would have been a surprise if it had been made closer to the game's incredibly difficult release, but the franchise has made quite a comeback since then. This is due in part to Update 2.0's much-needed gameplay overhauls and the release of the critically acclaimed Phantom Liberty story DLC. But even before Update 2.0 and Phantom Liberty came out last year, Cyberpunk 2077 was able to regain some goodwill thanks to Netflix Cyberpunk: Edgerunners Anime.

Created in collaboration between CD Projekt Red and Studio Trigger, Cyberpunk: Edgerunners follows the young mercenary David Martinez as he tries to master his life Cyberpunk 2077The night city. Edge Runner has fulfilled the promise CyberpunkThe setting is better than the game in many ways, with CD Projekt Red going back and using the anime as inspiration for several system changes in Update 2.0. Since Project Orion is still in the early stages of development, CD Projekt Red has the opportunity to incorporate fan-favorite aspects Edge Runner at ground level rather than in a post-launch patch. One particular element that could enable both bombastic gameplay and impactful player decisions is the Sandevistan operating system.

A mechanic added in Cyberpunk 2077's Phantom Liberty DLC definitely needs to be included in the next installment of the series.

The Importance of Sandevistan in the Cyberpunk Franchise

The Sandevistan is a piece of military cyberware that David finds at the start of the show and implants into his body. It sharpens David's senses and improves his reaction time, allowing him to – from his perspective – slow down time. David uses this cyberware to outmaneuver and eliminate his enemies before they can even process what is happening. The Sandevistan is an incredibly powerful piece of technology, but its use comes at a price. Triggering the Sandevistan status effect places a significant strain on the user's mind and body. Although David has a high tolerance for cyberware, his reliance on the Sandevistan pushes him ever closer to developing cyberpsychosis with each use.

The appearance of Sandevistan in Cyberpunk 2077

The Sandevistan is also present in the game and was the highlight of many later builds Cyberpunk 2077 Update 2.0. Like David, players can implant V with a version of the Sandevistan, giving him the ability to slow time while driving or in combat. While it's fun to use, Cyberpunk 2077Sandevistan still falls short of what was portrayed in it Cyberpunk: Edgerunners.

Bring the Sandevistan to Project Orion

The Sandevistan should return in Project Orion, and if so, it should function much more similarly to how it did back then Edge Runner as in Cyberpunk 2077. Combined with the right perks and cyberware, Sandevistan users are in it 2077 could often be incredibly strong in combat – although not as powerful as an optimized Cyberdeck OS build. However, Sandevistan doesn't always offer players the true power fantasy they would expect after watching Edge Runner. Especially at the beginning of the game, the short timer and slow recharge rate of the cyberware are noticeable. Although this is done to offset the useful time dilation effect, CD Projekt Red could remove these guardrails and make its next game much more interesting.

CD Projekt Red should add more depth to all of its cyberware, but Sandevistan is the biggest contender for improvement. Especially after the success of Edge RunnerMany players would love to see Sandevistan expanded. There are many ways to make it look as powerful as it looks in the anime. The developers could even go so far as to eliminate the time limit and recharge rate entirely, as they already have the perfect way to balance the use of the Sandevistan in the game's lore: cyberpsychosis.

Balancing an improved Sandevistan in Project Orion

Cyberpsychosis has been added Cyberpunk 2077 in Update 2.0, but all it really does is introduce a cyberware limit and impose debuffs if players exceed it. When Project Orion brings back the cyberpsychosis system for the Sandevistan and makes it closer to how it works Edge Runner – adding effects like initial bleeding and a kind of madness when players push themselves too hard – would be a far more interesting way to balance the Sandevistan than a simple countdown. Players could then experience the true David Martinez experience: insane power at the risk of true madness.

Sandevistan variants in Project Orion

Another way Project Orion could expand Sandevistan is through variants. Edge Runner featured two different versions of the Sandevistan: David's and Adam Smasher's. Both have different features and performance caps. Although there are a variety of Sandevistans to choose from Cyberpunk 2077The differences they provide often come in the form of incremental stat boosts. Taking the Sandevistan variants to the next level in Project Orion provides a way to differentiate playthroughs – especially given how many people are currently playing Sandevistan builds – and delve deeper into the lore behind the companies that make each build produce.
