After completing the Suthorn Ruins at the start Zelda: Echoes of WisdomYou'll need to decide whether to go to one of two locations to tackle additional rifts that have opened – Gerudo Desert to the west or Jabul Waters to the north.
The two zones have some big differences. The two most important are the difficulty level and the distance you have to travel to get there. This guide explains some basic benefits of each area, including a particularly useful Echo that you can only get in each zone, to help players decide where to go first after completing the introductory section: Gerudo Desert or Jabul Waters .
Gerudo desert and Jabul water in the echo of wisdom
Jabul Waters is relatively easy but far away
- Highlight: Water block echo
Jabul Waters is the first Zora area that Zelda has access to Echoes of wisdom. It is an area that is home to two Zora tribes – the River Zora and the Ocean Zora – and recently the great spirit Lord Jabu-Jabu has gone mad, apparently triggered by the appearance of rifts nearby.
Between Jabul Waters and Gerudo Desert lies the The Zora Domain is a bit easier and dealing with enemies tends to not be as annoying. There are some outstanding, annoying enemies, but overall it's a relaxed ocean adventure with great scenery (including a galleon-style ship) and one of the best echoes of the early game: Water Block.
This simple Echo only costs one Tri Power and essentially creates a cube of water in the air for Zelda to swim through. It blocks enemies, puts out fires, and can be used to get to hard-to-reach areas that would normally be inaccessible.
The Gerudo Desert is close to the Suthorn Forest, but is more difficult
- Highlight: Flying tile echo
When asked to choose whether you want to go to the Gerudo or Zora dungeon first Echoes of wisdomYou'll probably immediately notice that the Gerudo Desert is barely a stone's throw to the west, while Jabul Water is much further north. This may make you think that the Gerudo Desert is the easier of the two, as it is the zone on the more linear path.
The Gerudo Desert is actually more difficult to traverse than the Jabul Waters due to the tougher enemy types and the map distortion effect that occurs when you are in the sandstorm. But, If you don't mind a little challenge at the start of the game, heading to the Gerudo Desert first is the quicker route. Once you're done here, you can head to Jabul Waters, which is right next to Hyrule Castle, for the next part of the main story.
Another reason to brave the sand and head to the Gerudo Desert early is to purchase the Flying Tile Echo. Like the Water Block Echo, the Flying Tile can be used to reach areas that would normally be difficult or impossible to access. Simply summon the flying tile, jump on it and it should fly in the direction you were facing when it was summoned.
So should you go to the Gerudo Desert or Jabul Waters first?
You have the choice of going to the Gerudo Desert or the Jabul Waters first Echoes of wisdom Really It depends on the desired level of difficulty in this early phase of the game. Thanks to the game's fast travel system, waypoints make the distance factor between the two areas fairly negligible, although it is still a factor for players looking to reach the destination Echoes of wisdom fast.
If you want to save some time in the long run and don't want to face tougher opponents with fewer heart containers, start by heading west towards the Gerudo Desert.
If you want to take the easier of the two routes but don't mind getting out of the way a bit, consider heading north to the Jabul Waters first and then fast travel back to the Gerudo entrance. Desert drive once you've found a few more Echos and Heart Containers.
