EA Sports UFC 5 adds two new fighters in September 26 update

EA Sports has confirmed that a new patch update for its popular fighting game, UFC5will be released on September 26th and adds Chase Hooper and Lerone Murphy to the game's extensive roster of mixed martial arts fighters. The patch will be available to download on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S around 10am PT and will include new balance adjustments and two new fighters for UFC5 Players to try out.

After the release in 2023, developer EA Vancouver has promised fans that it will continue to add new fighters UFC5 regularly. With the latest patch now set to launch in late September, fans can download the free content update and play as lightweight star Chase Hooper and 33-year-old featherweight Lerone Murphy, who is currently ranked 12th in the division. In addition to the addition of two new fighters, Update 1.14 also includes a handful of new balance adjustments and fixes to ensure a smooth gameplay experience for both wrestlers and strikers.


Before the launch of the latest update, EA released two new UFC5 Alter Egos for Alexander Volkanovski and Brian Ortega on September 25. The two fought a five-round fight at UFC 226 in 2021, with Volkanovski emerging victorious by unanimous decision. To mark the third anniversary of the epic fight, EA is celebrating with a new “On This Day” alter ego series that aims to recapture the fighters as they were on the day of their fight.


As for the new fighters released with Patch 1.14, fans can try out lightweight contender Chase Hooper, who is only 25 years old but is known as a dangerous grappler and a great choice for any UFC5 player looking to score a victory by submission. Then there's Lerone Murphy, who recently worked his way up the UFC's featherweight rankings, where he is ranked 12th. Murphy not only has a blue belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, but also an explosive stand-up game and tons of stamina.

The September 26 patch also includes a handful of new balance adjustments and bug fixes, including a reduced stamina perk requirement for some ground transitions, the details of which can be found in the official patch notes below. Unfortunately, there don't seem to be any noticeable adjustments in the latest patch UFC5 Update, but there are some important bug fixes.

Gameplay updates

  • Fixed an issue that allowed a fighter to partially block the special front hook block counter after using an advancing, slipping back hook.
  • Fixed an issue where triangle access for the Submissive Rubber Guard was unavailable when the stamina advantage was high.
  • The stamina advantage requirement for some ground transitions has been reduced:
    • Smash Pass from Dominant Full Guard to Side Control from 25 to 10.
      • This happens when the submissive extends their hips to one side and then the dominant extends their hips second and switches to the other side. This requires wrestling transitions.
    • Side control sweep from 70 to 50.
      • This is a situational sweep that results from the transition from the hip to the half-guard position. It requires wrestling sweeps and was also very rare due to the very high endurance requirement.
  • Fixed a camera issue during the Heel Hook finish.
