After the siege of Weisshaupt, Rook and the crew of Dragon Age: The Veil Guardian concentrate again on their personal problems. One of the first issues to investigate is Bellara's quest, “The Demon's Bargain.”
This quest begins when you speak to Bellara after returning from Weisshaupt, assuming you have already completed her first personal quest. To start this second quest, you will need to select the Elven Ruins area on the map, as there is no Eluvian that leads directly there. Since you don't normally have access to this area, the quest begins the moment you enter it.

Companions in Dragon Age: The Veilguard can combine their abilities to unleash devastating combo attacks. Here are the best ones you can use.
Where to find the missing veil sweaters
The quest begins in the same location as your first visit to the Elven Ruins, but you quickly end up on a new path that takes you to a new area. The road you took the first time is blocked by a blue barrier. So instead, turn right and go through the portal.
You fight a mixed group of Guardians and Spirits, then battle a level 36 Higher Pride Demon. It's a tough fight, mostly thanks to the small arena and the demon's combined barrier and armor bars.
Once done, use Tinker on the broken power node and then pick up the power crystal to disable the barrier. Take the Energy Crystal to the Energy Node halfway along the bridge in front of you to form a second bridge that leads to a small chest. Continue forward to advance to a new area and a new battle.
During this fight, focus on the Great Wizards first. They can fire bolts that track your location, and the window of opportunity to dodge them is short. After all four enemies are defeated, the Burning Anger miniboss (a type of rage demon) will break through the wall and two more Voltaic Shades will appear to support him. Burning Anger has several attacks that you need to be wary of:
- A fiery charge that can be chained up to six times in a row.
- A fiery nova that slowly spreads across the battlefield in three rings. They don't do much damage, but they can keep you from getting angry.
- About seven projectiles were thrown in quick succession.
- A damaging jump attack.
The attacks of anger come with merciless speed. So focus on using your skills and those of your companions.

Players who want to turn their Warrior Towers into powerhouses from the start of Dragon Age: The Veilguard will need these early-game weapons.
This is how you reach the end of the Elven Ruins
Head through the wall, burning anger piercing through. You may see a chest at the top of a balcony, but you can't reach it from your current room. Instead, use Tinker to repair the energy node in front of you, then drop the energy crystal from the alcove to your right. You can drop into the water, but there's nothing to collect down there.
On the other side of the bridge, turn right and follow the passage to find a campsite with an interesting clue. Continue up the ladder to reach the chest you saw earlier. Back at the bridge, take the left path to reach a small chest.
Now go forward to fight a Raging Shadow. After it goes down, Bellara will comment on the satchel on the street. Don't forget to grab the memento to the left of the bag.
Use Tinker on the power node in front of you, then remove the power crystal to deactivate the barrier. There is another junction right in front of you. Placing the crystal there will take you to another campsite with a small chest. Back on the main path you come across a staircase, but the base is broken. Instead, go around the side to eventually reach the Shroud Jumpers.

How to conquer toxic desires
In the final room of this quest, Bellara, along with his new master, will have a conversation with an unexpected person from her past. After they leave, a battle begins against two Great Shadows and two Voltaic Shadows. They are all susceptible to cold and resistant to necrosis.
Bellara mentions that she can free the Shroud Jumpers by deactivating the two large crystals at either end of the room. Keep in mind that you can only use skills like Intuitive Manipulation outside of combat, as breaking one of the crystals will summon a new wave of enemies. This second wave corresponds to the first wave.
Shattering the second crystal releases the Veiljumpers, but also summons a Devouring Shadow, a Shadow Rejuvenator, and a Toxic Longing. The shades have the same elemental affinities as the last two waves, but Toxic Yearning is vulnerable to electricity and resistant to necrotic. Here are some tips to defeat Toxic Yearning:
- The longing sometimes creates accumulations of toxic (necrotic) poison on the ground. Standing on them causes damage, but is not very dangerous.
- Longing can create a series of ten projectiles, all firing at the same time and from different angles. Each projectile doesn't do much damage, but there are a lot of them. You can protect yourself from them, but you may want to dodge instead.
- Longing has a spin attack that lasts several seconds. You should dodge as the attack can cause serious damage if you get caught in it.
- Devouring Shade and Shade Rejuvenator can support Toxic Yearning, so eliminate them first.
When the last enemies have fallen, you can talk to Bellara to end the quest. Before you leave, be sure to open the large chest that appeared behind the two veil jumpers. The game jumps to Arlathan Forest and a discussion occurs between the Veil Jumper leaders and Bellara. When the conversation is over, you will receive 2,250 XP and +100 Veilskipper Strength.
