Diablo 4 has seen one of its biggest updates since its launch in 2023 with the release of Vessel of hate DLC and Season 6 content. From the new class called “Spiritborn” to enemies called “Realmwalkers”, the new content in Diablo 4 brings more action to the foreground. However, players who want to enjoy couch co-op mode are encountering a significant bug in Infernal Hordes mode that is preventing them from completing their runs.
Despite the influx of new content Season 6 and Vessel of hate Bring your own couch co-op Diablo 4 has had a series of bad luck. Another issue arose last month when players discovered that the DLC's raid-like Dark Citadel didn't support couch co-op. Now, players who attempt to experience Infernal Hordes this way will find themselves stuck in the middle of the game with no clear way out.

Diablo 4's Infernal Hordes controversy leaves couch co-op players unable to complete games
A frustrating bug makes hellish hordes a real nuisance
Currently, it looks like this Infernal Hordes issue is primarily a couch co-op issue. Wave-based mode can be a fun way to take on the onslaught of enemies, but unfortunately couch co-op appears to prevent players from completing the trial. A Reddit user named MaidenlessRube expressed his frustration about this Diablo 4 subreddit that says this issue occurs regularly when trying the mode in local co-op. New waves stop appearing, leaving players stuck in the mode with no way to progress. This isn't the first problem Infernal Hordes has had, either.

Constant bugs preventing players from completing goals
A similar bug that previously affected players in Infernal Hordes affects the mode's end goal. Once the ongoing waves of enemies reach the final stage, players will be tasked with defeating the Fell Council. However, according to feedback on the official Blizzard forum on the company's website, some players have defeated the Fell Council, but nothing happens, so they cannot continue.
While this isn't the same couch co-op bug plaguing players, it was still a shockingly similar softlock issue that may prevent some from playing Infernal Hordes all the way through. Player Allisonk98 stated on Reddit that the softlock “happens so often that I barely play anymore.” Diablo 4 I recently received a hotfix, but it didn't change the Infernal Hordes issue.

Blizzard has not yet fixed the problem
At the time of writing, there is currently no known plan from Blizzard to address Infernal Hordes' local co-op issues. While the developer has responded to Spiritborn's overpowered gameplay, players who want to experience Infernal Hordes with a teammate may have to wait a little longer for the issue to be resolved. What's even more frustrating for players is how long this problem has existed. According to MaidenlessRube, “This has been happening since the beginning of season five.”

The latest hotfix has made changes to the game's Obducite drop issue, while also making server and stability improvements.
There's no telling how long this problem will persist for couch co-op players. Unfortunately, it was recently revealed that most Diablo 4 If players are traveling alone, this may not be a priority for Blizzard at the moment. Only time will tell if this bug will be fixed soon, but for those who have always wanted to try Infernal Hordes in local co-op mode, it may be best to proceed with caution.
