Jujutsu Kaisen: The Future of the Series, Explained
JJK still has a lot to discover in its history. Does this manga have a future?
For example, when Naruto came to an end, the author of the story was certainly working on a miniseries that focused on Sarada Uchiha and the mystery surrounding her parentage. He also made a one-shot that was recently released last year, and at the same time, fans also remember that Kishimoto made the movie “Boruto: Naruto the Movie” that fit into the canon. Just as Kishimoto did all of these things after the end of the main story, one can certainly imagine Gege doing the same, even if he has plans for another series. Therefore, JJK will no longer be continued as a long-running manga, but rather as a one-shot, a spin-off of a few chapters or as a film.
With this issue resolved, fans can now turn their attention to the subject of Gojo. At the end of the story it becomes clear that Gojo is finally dead. He will not return in the story if there is a sequel. The only way to return in a sequel is through a flashback at best. But fans don't know what kind of sequel, one-shot, or movie JJK will get, if any. Gojo can certainly return if the one-shot, movie, or spin-off series is actually set in the past. For example, fans might see something that takes place before the start of JJK. In this case, Gojo would definitely be present in the story and fans would have a chance to enjoy this character once again. It's also possible that in a series that deals with the future after the end of “Shinjuku Showdown,” a flashback can bring Gojo into focus, especially if the Gojo clan is the focus. Certainly there are ways to include Gojo in the story and fans could potentially see him return.
Jujutsu Kaisen's future after chapter 271
JJK still has a lot of potential
After JJK Chapter 271, the story certainly still has a future. Fans could either see a spin-off that focuses on the adult version of the characters, and in that case, perhaps Gojo can be integrated into the story through exciting flashbacks. One thing fans are dying to see is more light being shed on the Gojo Clan. This way, fans will definitely learn a lot more about Gojo's upbringing and the importance he had in the entire jujutsu world.
It is also possible for JJK to get a spin-off set in the past. For example, it would be absolutely incredible to see a one-shot or miniseries based around the Heian era. Of course, fans definitely won't get to see Gojo in this case, but perhaps his ancestor could make an exciting appearance. The possibilities for an exciting future for JJK are limitless and it all depends on what the author wants to do from now on.
The final chapter of Jujutsu Kaisen, JJK 271, was finally released on September 29, 2024. Fans can read the series on the Manga Plus and Shonen Jump apps.
