Core Keeper developer announces new co-op game

Kyora was announced for an early access release on Steam, with a reveal trailer shown at The Game Awards 2024. Although Pugstorm was largely the focus Core KeeperWith updates scheduled for 2025, it seems the Sweden-based studio has proven itself capable of tackling another project in the meantime. Kyora aims to further develop many of the ideas that made the developer's last release so popular.

Pugstorm is a developer that has become particularly well known Core Keepera game with dynamically lit 2D pixel graphics focused on survival and crafting in an open world. Although Core Keeper has been available in Early Access on Steam since 2022, the game was released as a full version this year. Some players are thinking about it Core Keeper being one of the best co-op games of 2024, comparable to titles like Stardew Valley And Terrariums. Pugstorm seems to be penetrating further Terrariums's direction with Kyora.

As part of the reveal-filled Game Awards 2024 showCore Keeper Developer Pugstorm and publisher Chucklefish announced Kyorais coming to Steam Early Access. The one-minute trailer reveals a crafting-focused survival gameplay experience that will support up to eight players in online co-op. The announcement trailer for Kyora The film pans to a building and then shows various players walking in and around the building and interacting with their creations. If the shot goes deeper, KyroraThe mining, crafting, exploration and combat functions are hinted at, making it clear that there seems to be a world of depth waiting for players in the game.

Kyora seems to be heavily inspired by popular titles like Terrariums And Noitaand provides a malleable environment that enables pixel-by-pixel terraforming in a procedurally generated open world. Players can craft a variety of items, from simpler structures such as bridges and bases to more imaginative objects, including wands that facilitate the manipulation of matter. With items like these, players can more easily fight bosses called heralds and upgrade their tool kits to do more.

Players are encouraged to explore as much as possible with friends to combine skills and discover synergies with items, making it easier to survive in the increasingly hostile world of Kyorawhich seems to incentivize riskier gameplay with greater rewards. As more people find their way into the world, the threats they face grow, and the different biomes available offer new solutions to the obstacles players inevitably encounter. Although there is no set release date for it KyoraPugstorm and Chucklefish note that the title will be released “in the near future.”
