Blue Lock Season 2 Episode 12: The Counterattack

Summary

  • The game between Blue Lock and U-20 becomes more intense as players unlock flow states after Shidou's goal chaos.

  • Aiku's backstory reveals his transition from striker to defender and the harsh reality he faced.

  • Isagi is expected to shine as other players steal the spotlight in the exciting match.

The Blue Lock against U-20 The match continues, and in the previous episode it seemed to be insanely one-sided with Shidou going on a rampage, which was supposed to be the case, but it seems it had toned down quite a bit. So far we've only gotten the backstory of the Itoshi brothers, and it's nice to see another key player get some love and a good backstory.

As the episode continued, the game began and we saw each player give it their all and the game's most important players get into their “flow” state. At this point it feels like the game could be in the hands of both teams. Would Isagi finally get to shine and prove he's the MC, or will we have to wait until the finale? I guess we'll have to wait!

Blue Lock Season 2, Episode 11: Entering the Flow State

Blue Lock vs. U-20 reaches its climax when Shidou's Big Bang Drive goal unleashes chaos and inspires players to unlock their flow states.

From striker to defender

Was it a forced decision?

Looking at Aiku's backstory gives a pretty detailed answer as to why he wants to be the best defender of all time. A once smart boy who wants to be the best striker in the world, can't achieve his dream and now wants to destroy other strikers makes perfect sense! It's surprising how many of his points resonate with us directly. His decision may have been very hasty; Yes, his coach denied him, but in his defense he was also right; If he had stayed true to his dream, Aiku's gift would have been very different, but that is fate for you.

Even in real life we are often faced with the harsh reality of the bitter truth in the world that only the strong thrive or those who make the rules are in charge and we must change accordingly; As hurtful as this may be, it is the bitter truth. But seeing his backstory, especially how he decides to nurture the strikers wanting to grow up, was heartwarming. He may seem like a cold and calculated person, but he is actually a very caring person.

The chameleon strikes again

Counterattack The counterattack

Gagamaru

The game continues and Blue Lock seems to be going for a counterattack, but Shidou steals the ball and immediately goes on the offensive, which is stopped by Gagamaru with an impressive fish kick, surprising how little time he spent in Blue Lock as a defender, let alone as a goalkeeper, but here we are! Watch these selfish people do their best.

The highlight of the episode would be Reo mimicking Nagi's crazy move to initiate her counterattack. Blue Lock He appears to prevent Isagi from scoring, but Rin recognizes his move and arrives just in time for a pass, as does someone else from the shadows, Baro, who is, oddly enough, unfazed and undisturbed by two players, goes straight away through them and scores a fantastic goal that equalizes the score.

Where is the protagonist?

Come on, Isagi, do something!

Isagi does something

It's great to see all the characters getting the recognition they deserve and with every player on the field participating equally in every game, we wonder when our boy Isagi will get his chance to shine? Sure, he was the reason most of Blue Lock's goals were possible, but he wasn't directly the reason or the one who scored the goal. It's about time our MC got his time to shine, isn't it?

But I think that's the appeal of the show; It doesn't just focus on the protagonist and lets everyone else shine too. We still have time in the second half and with the score at 3-3 it's only a matter of time before Isagi completes his puzzle, at which point it's game over for everyone else.

The production quality improved significantly in the final episode, although there were some CGI scenes that seemed odd, but overall it has improved since the beginning. And that seems to be the trend; The episode had good scenes. Baro's goal is quite well done, as is Aiku's backstory, and for the most part the episode was much calmer than the last two, so we can't really complain about the animation, but this seems to be a sign of the calm before the storm that is coming out last next week. Let's just hope all the budget and hard work went into it!
