Black Ops 6 allows you to disable offensive kill animations

Key insights

  • Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 features controversial paid Mastercraft skins for operators and weapons.
  • Some players dislike the flashy Mastercraft bullets and hideous death animations.
  • It is possible to disable these animations in the settings to avoid humiliation during the game.

Following its release, Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 introduced a number of paid operator and weapon skins. Then, as part of the game's first season, they added more. It's safe to assume there's a lot more in the works in the future. As is often the case, these skins have divided the Call of Duty community.

While a large percentage of players have purchased them to spice up their gameplay, others have not taken to them so kindly, with some even going so far as to say that they would pay not to see them in the game.

The update also reset some players' Solo Zombies data.

One of the best (or worst, depending on which side of the fence you sit on) things about these skins, known as Mastercrafts, is that they fire bright bullets that result in frankly hideous death animations.

Luckily, if you're a hater, a Call of Duty player has revealed a way to turn off these animations if you're the recipient of these animations.

You don't need to watch Call of Duty: Black Ops 6's Mastercraft kill animations

Black Ops 6 Mastercraft weapon causes the enemy to explode in green flames

As player Playful-Team-1634 shared on Reddit, there is a way to protect yourself from being humiliated by some of Black Ops 6's more outlandish kills.

If you go to Settings and then Account, you will find the Gore Effects option. You can disable this so you no longer have to struggle with Mastercraft weapon animations.

This way, those who spent money looking silly will still have the pleasure of watching you disintegrate, but you yourself will be spared.

There are three pretty shocking examples of this in Black Ops 6 so far. The Blackcell weapons cause players to burst into flames and explode, the Draconic Forge weapons cause players to disintegrate into green flames, and IDead Mastercraft turns players into paint, paint cans, etc. chewing gum when killed. We don't blame you if you want to turn them off.

Forced to go rogue. Hunted from within. This is Call of Duty: Black Ops 6.

Developed by Treyarch and Raven, Black Ops 6 is a spy action thriller set in the early '90s, a time of transition and upheaval in world politics caused by the end of the Cold War and the rise of the United States identified as the only superpower. With a stunning narrative and unbound by the rules of engagement, this is the hallmark of Black Ops.

The Black Ops 6 campaign offers dynamic, moment-to-moment gameplay that spans a variety of gameplay areas with blockbuster set pieces and action-packed moments, high-stakes heists and cloak-and-dagger espionage activities.

In a premium multiplayer experience, players will be able to test their skills on 16 new maps at launch, including 12 6v6 core maps and 4 strike maps that can be played 2v2 or 6v6.

Black Ops 6 also marks the epic return of Round-Based Zombies, the fan-favorite mode that will see players defeat hordes of the undead across two brand-new maps at launch. Upon launch, players can look forward to even more exciting maps and groundbreaking experiences in multiplayer and zombie modes.
