Bette Midler knows the secret to a lasting relationship: separate bedrooms.
In a new interview with Entertainment tonightThe cult actress spoke about her almost 40-year marriage with her husband Martin von Haselberg and explained why the two never slept in the same bedroom.
“My husband snores,” Hocus Pocus said the star after revealing that the two always slept separately.
Despite the unconventional approach, Midler said their marriage has been “a fabulous journey.”
The couple, who married in Las Vegas in December 1984 after a six-week relationship, have a daughter together, Sophie von Haselberg.
In her upcoming film The Fabulous FourMidler shares the screen with Susan Sarandon, Sheryl Lee Ralph and Megan Mullally, as well as her daughter Sophie.
“I was more than reluctant [to letting her go into acting],” Midler said of her daughter’s ambitions to become an actress.
“I was scared for her and she was just a little girl. I made a terrible mistake when I said, 'If you go into show business, I'll kill you.' And she took that very much to heart. She's brilliant. She's amazing. She's the love of my life.”
Last year, the 78-year-old actress spoke about maintaining her appearance through cosmetic surgery.
“Time has a way of smoothing everything out,” Midler said at the annual Costume Designers Guild Awards. Page Six“I've been doing this for nearly 60 years… and I really look fantastic; I know… I've had some changes to my face.”
