Summary

  • A new Apex Legends update fixes voice and text chat issues in lobbies.

  • The DOC for Lifeline no longer reveals a cloaked Mirage.

  • The update includes a fix for the VFX for Reactive skins.

Respawn Entertainment has released a new update for Apex Legendswhich fixed some issues in the battle royale game. The scope of this update pales in comparison to the January 7th mid-season patch, but it should improve the gaming experience for some Apex Legends Player.

After a relatively slow start to Season 23 compared to some previous seasons, the last few weeks have been significant for the game. In particular, the recent mid-season update aimed to breathe new life into the battle royale experience, bringing buffs and nerfs to various Legends and weapons. Shortly after this massive update, Apex Legends I've received another patch to fix some frustrating issues in the game.

Why Apex Legends shouldn't roll back its support changes

Apex Legends Season 23 ushered in a meta that was heavily in favor of support-class Legends, a meta that Respawn shouldn't be moving back on any time soon.

According to Respawn, a new update was applied to the battle royale on January 16th. Among the changes, several lobby issues have been addressed, including voice and text chat not working as intended and visual issues related to PC lobbies. The update also fixes a gameplay issue where Lifeline's tactical drone would reveal Mirage when cloaked. This was potentially a big deal since Mirage's stealth ability was improved in the mid-season update and Lifeline is currently one of the most picked Legends in the game. This meant that the potentially game-breaking situation could crop up quite frequently before the fix.

In addition to these changes, the new update fixes issues with some cosmetics in Apex Legends. Based on the patch notes, reactive skins should now work as intended, as there was previously a bug that caused the VFX to not display properly after weapon swapping. The developer also announced that the Attrition G7 Scout skin has been temporarily removed from the game. Unfortunately, a return date has not been noted because an error is being corrected.

While these smaller updates are good news for players who are struggling, the community is also looking forward to what Respawn has in the pipeline. While fans still have about a month until the release of season 24 of Apex LegendsRespawn recently revealed some of its more immediate plans. On January 21st Apex Legends crosses with Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth in the form of the Lunar Rebirth Collection Event. It will bring returning cosmetics themed around the Square Enix game and a prestige skin for Alter. Additionally, Materia Hop-Ups return in Rift Relics and the Buster Sword R2R5 returns.

We hope that these future changes will improve the experience for players who are dissatisfied with the current state Apex Legends. As the game's player numbers on platforms like Steam have declined in recent months, the developer is looking for ways to bring players back.
