Jujutsu Kaisen released its penultimate chapter this week and it's safe to say that while not much has happened, things are pointing towards a great conclusion to the story, with the main trio of Yuji, Megumi, and Nobara getting a lot of attention. This week's chapter was quite light-hearted compared to the last few, while also exciting as the main trio now have one final battle to fight before the series comes to an end.

At the same time, this chapter has also confused many fans, especially because some plot points have not been covered yet, which has confused many readers. Regardless, JJK is now officially entering its final week, which means that the series' author can finally rest after his excellent work over the past few years.

A funeral for Tsumiki was shown in the chapter

Megumi and Shoko Funeral Jujutsu Kaisen JJK 270

  • Tsumiki was finally buried
  • Megumi and Shoko share a moment

JJK Chapter 270 started with a funeral for Tsumiki. This was something that fans expected after the conclusion of the Shinjuku Showdown. Tsumiki was one of the people who needed to be saved in the Culling Game. In fact, Megumi's main reason for entering the Culling Game in the first place was to save Tsumiki. He even asked Yuji for help to make that happen, but ended up failing and killing her partially by his own hands. Well, Megumi can't do much, but he can at least give her a proper funeral, and that's exactly what he did. In this chapter, a proper grave was made for Tsumiki, and it was also revealed that she was cremated beforehand, with Shoko helping out so that she would look beautiful in the afterlife. Of course, she still doesn't believe in the afterlife, but she thinks that they should look pretty when they eventually die.

I should have dealt with Geto too. That idiot. – Shoko

Curiously, she also commented to Geto, saying that she should have done the same for him, but she never got the chance, which ultimately led to Kenjaku finding his body and the rest is history.

The scene with Megumi and Shoko was certainly interesting and finally offers fans some closure regarding this brilliant character's story arc. Fans also know that Megumi is now content with what happened while also being willing to live to provide a better future for the remaining people of the world and help each Yuji create a better world.

Although fans got to see a scene in a graveyard at the beginning of the chapter, this moment was quite surprising since Gojo was not in it at all. Considering that Gojo died in the battle against Sukuna and how important he is to the students, Gojo Satoru should have certainly had a scene in the graveyard, especially since fans actually got to see the graveyard in the chapter. Surprisingly, no funeral procession was held for Gojo, which is a very odd decision and left all the fans confused. In fact, it only reinforced the idea that Gojo may not have died at all and is still alive in some form.

What exactly happened to Gojo is still unknown, and it is also unknown what happened to his body since Yuta's trade has already been confirmed, meaning Gojo's body, which is intact, has to be somewhere at this point. Hopefully, this question will be answered in JJK Chapter 271, which is pretty close now.

A new curse user appears

Finally the fight against a powerful curse user begins

Takaba Return Geto Kenjaku Jujutsu Kaisen JJK 270

Fans see quite a lot of Culling Game players in this chapter. Even the old wizards who were revived were featured in the chapter, and at the same time, those who awakened new cursed techniques, such as Higuruma, were also heavily featured in the chapter. It felt like JJK Chapter 270 mainly served to lift the curtain on the stories of the Culling Game players, which was certainly exciting to say the least. Fans saw characters like Daido living in modern-day Japan and going about their daily lives.

Most importantly, fans also got to see Takaba, who, to their great surprise, turned out to be alive.

Previously, fans had assumed that he died after his battle with Kenjaku. But now it is confirmed that he is alive. More importantly, he spoke to a character that looked remarkably similar to Geto. Fans do not know if and how Geto returned, but it is clear that this character bears his character design and even his way of speaking is quite similar. Whether it is really Geto or Kenjaku, fans do not know.

Since Talkaba has the ability to turn anything he thinks is funny into reality, Kenjaku or Geto could have certainly been brought back to life with his powers, making things more interesting going forward. Hopefully, fans get a proper reveal about who this character is and what the author plans to do with him later in JJK.

JJK prepares for its end

Next week Jujutsu Kaisen officially ends

Finally, JJK Chapter 270 set up the end of the series in a pretty spectacular way. The series was taken back to its roots and fans saw a couple being tormented by a cursed spirit or a curse user. Essentially, a woman saw her fiancé with huge eyes and that scared her. Obviously, she believed that there was something wrong with her fiancé. However, when the wizards arrived on the scene, it was clearly seen that the man was completely fine and that it was the woman who was actually being harassed by a curse user. Megumi did not sense any ill intentions from him and fans do not know much about the whereabouts of these characters.

Megumi suspects that it is a player who awakened a cursed technique and participated in the Elimination Game. Either way, this person must be taken care of, which means Yuji, Megumi, and Nobara have a big mission ahead of them in the next chapter of JJK. They must find and defeat this curse user to end his harassment, meaning fans will get to see them work together one last time before the story finally moves on and ends.

A curse user causing trouble? That should be a piece of cake for the three of us! – Yuji

Now JJK is entering its final week, which means that the story will soon officially come to an end. It has been a remarkable journey for fans, and while they would have liked it to continue for longer, it is of course time for the author to rest. But that certainly does not mean that the JJK will never continue. As things stand, there is a big announcement, along with the final chapter of JJKand the series' editor recently left a message explaining that things are far from over and that there is more to come. What exactly that means remains to be seen, but fans can look forward to a bright future for the JJK Franchise.

Jujutsu Kaisen is available to read via Viz Media. The series can be read officially and for free by fans on Shonen Jump and the Manga Plus app. The release date for the next chapter of One Piece, Jujutsu Kaisen Chapter 271, is set for September 29, 2024.
