Singer Sinead O’Connor’s exact cause of death revealed

The exact cause of death of legendary singer Sinead O'Connor was announced on the anniversary of her tragic passing.

Ms O'Connor was found “unresponsive” in her south-east London flat in July last year at the age of 56.

Her death was officially registered by her husband John Reynolds in Lambeth, London, on Wednesday. Mrs O'Connor's death certificate confirms that she died from chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) and asthma. Irish Independentreported.

At the time of her death, the Irish music icon was also suffering from a respiratory infection.

The cause of death listed on the death certificate was “aggravation of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease and bronchial asthma together with a mild infection of the lower respiratory tract.”

The mother of four died just 18 months after her son Shane, 17, took his life in January 2022.

In January, a spokesman for Southwark Coroners Court in London released a statement announcing the Nothing compares to you Cause of death of the singer.

“It is hereby confirmed that Ms. O'Connor died of natural causes,” the spokesman said.

“The coroner has therefore discontinued his involvement in her death.”

After news of O'Connor's death became known, London's Metropolitan Police confirmed that her death was not being treated as suspicious.

“Police were called at 11:18am on Wednesday 26 July to reports that a woman was unresponsive at a residential address in the SE24 area,” a police statement said.

“Officers were on scene. A 56-year-old woman was pronounced dead at the scene.”

“Next of kin have been notified. The death is not considered suspicious. A file is being prepared for the coroner.”

Ms O'Connor's last post on Twitter included a photo of her and Shane and the message: “Living as an undead creature of the night ever since. He was the love of my life, the lamp of my soul.”

“We were one soul in two halves. He was the only person who ever loved me unconditionally.”

“Without him I am lost in the Bardo.”

O'Connor had three other children, Jake, Roisin and Yeshua.

Irish President Michael D. Higgins praised O'Connor's “extraordinarily beautiful, unique voice” and added that he hoped “her spirit [may] to find the peace she was looking for in so many different ways.”
